According to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theinsneider.com\/p\/rope-remake-morten-tyldum-davis-entertainment-alfred-hitchcock-oscar-predictions-screenplay-categori\"><em>The InSneider<\/em><\/a>, the project will be produced by Davis Entertainment, but casting details have yet to be revealed.<\/p>\r\n<p>Tyldum, who directed <a href=\"https:\/\/www.imdb.com\/title\/tt1614989\/\"><em><strong>Headhunters<\/strong> <\/em><\/a>in 2011, was acclaimed for <a href=\"https:\/\/www.imdb.com\/title\/tt2084970\/\"><em><strong>The Imitation Game<\/strong><\/em><\/a>, about cryptologist Alan Turing. It starred Benedict Cumberbatch and earned eight Oscar nominations, including those for Best Picture and Best Director. In 2016, Tyldum helmed Sony\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.imdb.com\/title\/tt1355644\/\"><em><strong>Passengers<\/strong><\/em>,<\/a> starring Chris Pratt and Jennifer Lawrence, which was not a critical success.<br \/><br \/>Details about the cast and screenwriter for the <em><strong>Rope<\/strong> <\/em>remake have yet to be revealed. Steven Knight of <em><strong>Peaky Blinders<\/strong><\/em> fame had drafted a script for a version by <a href=\"https:\/\/www.imdb.com\/name\/nm0000399\/\">David Fincher<\/a>, who had also reportedly been in the running for the director&#8217;s job along with Charlize Theron and Rupert Goold.<br \/><br \/>Fincher already has three other projects in development for Netflix: a <em><strong>Chinatown<\/strong> <\/em>prequel series, <em><strong>Squid Game: America<\/strong><\/em>, and <em><strong>Bitterroot<\/strong><\/em>, a Western.<br \/><br \/>Tyldum had directed several television features after <em><strong>Passengers<\/strong><\/em>, including a <em><strong>Jack Ryan<\/strong><\/em> pilot for Amazon, the <em><strong>Defending Jacob<\/strong> <\/em>series for Apple TV+, and the initial three episodes of <em><strong>Silo<\/strong><\/em>, also for Apple TV+.<br \/><br \/>Hitchcock\u2019s <em><strong>Rope<\/strong><\/em>, released in 1948, starred James Stewart, John Dall, Farley Granger, Cedric Hardwicke, Constance Collier, and Joan Chandler. It was based on a 1929 play by Patrick Hamilton about two men who host a dinner party after strangling a friend to death, in the belief that they had committed the perfect murder. The script was adapted by Hume Cronyn with a screenplay by Arthur Laurents. It was the first of Hitchcock\u2019s films in Technicolor.
