Pedro Almod\u00f3var is back at the <\/span>62nd New York Film Festival<\/span><\/a> with his first English-language feature film, <\/span>The Room Next Door<\/i><\/b>, adapted from the novel by Sigrid Nunez, who also wrote the book on which <\/span>The Friend<\/i><\/b> is based. (You can watch my review of the movie adapting that other book, which also played NYFF, <\/span>here<\/span><\/a>.)<\/span><\/p>\n

The Room Next Door<\/i><\/b> stars Julianne Moore and Tilda Swinton as Ingrid and Martha, two women who reconnect as the latter announces that she\u2019s dying of terminal cancer and wants Ingrid to help her with her plans to go the euthanasia route. The suggestion is horrifying to Ingrid but she goes to a house upstate to be there for her friend.<\/span><\/p>\n
