Her last appearance had been in 2014 when she starred in <a href=\"https:\/\/www.imdb.com\/title\/tt1823664\/\"><em><strong>Annie<\/strong><\/em>.<\/a> Her upcoming projects will include the appropriately named <a href=\"https:\/\/www.imdb.com\/title\/tt21191806\/\"><em><strong>Back in Action<\/strong><\/em><\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.imdb.com\/title\/tt6113186\/\"><em><strong>Shrek 5<\/strong><\/em><\/a>.<br \/><br \/>The 53-year-old actress told <em>Fortune<\/em>\u2019s Most Powerful Women Summit on Monday of this week that her decision to step back was based on self-interest. \u201c[It] was something I just had to do,\u201d she said. \u201cIt felt like the right thing for me to do to reclaim my own life and I just really didn\u2019t care about anything else. Nobody\u2019s opinion, nobody\u2019s success, no one\u2019s offer, no one\u2019s anything could change my mind about my decision of taking care of myself and building the life that I really wanted to have.\u201d <br \/><br \/>Since 2014, Diaz has been focusing on her private life. She married rock musician Bemji Madden of Good Charlotte, and had two children: daughter Raddix and son Cardinal. In 2020, with business partner Katherine Brown, she launched the Avaline wine brand.<br \/><br \/>Diaz is making her film comeback in January 2025 when Seth Gordon&#8217;s<em><strong> Back in Action <\/strong><\/em>(also starring <a href=\"https:\/\/www.imdb.com\/name\/nm0004937\/\">Jamie Foxx<\/a>), will premiere on Netflix. Reportedly, she will also appear in the forthcoming <em><strong>Shrek 5<\/strong> <\/em>and is talking about starring in<em><strong> Outcome<\/strong><\/em>, a dark comedy with Keanu Reeves.<br \/><br \/>Explaining her return to the big screen, Diaz was quoted as saying: \u201cIt was just the right time for my family. After COVID, we were in the house for a long time, which was amazing and the problem was we would probably stay there, we would still be there right now. People would be like, \u2018It\u2019s over,\u2019 and I\u2019d be like, \u2018No it\u2019s not, it\u2019s not over for me.&#8217;\u201d<br \/><br \/>Continuing, Diaz credited her husband with being supportive of her decision: \u201cSo I had to push myself; my husband and I \u2014 my husband, who is the best \u2014 he was like, \u2018You\u2019ve been supporting us and building the family\u2019 and supporting him in his businesses, he\u2019s like, \u2018It\u2019s time for us to support you and let Mommy ascend and do her thing.\u2019 He\u2019s like, \u2018Let me see you do it, girl.\u2019 I was like, \u2018All right, here we go.&#8217;\u201d<br \/><br \/>Diaz also credited Jamie Foxx for backing her decision to resume her professional career. The two had appeared together in <strong><em>Annie<\/em> <\/strong>as well as Oliver Stone\u2019s 1999 film <em><strong>Any Given Sunday<\/strong><\/em>. She told <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hollywoodreporter.com\/movies\/movie-news\/cameron-diaz-leaving-hollywood-decade-ago-return-1236032813\/\"><em>The Hollywood Reporter<\/em><\/a> that she \u201ccouldn\u2019t say no to Jamie. He said, \u2018Come with me\u2019 and I said, \u2018OK let\u2019s do it;\u2019 it\u2019s our third film together so it\u2019s really great.\u201d<br \/><br \/>She added, \u201cIt really comes to what are you passionate about?
