The 1983 film Christine<\/em> <\/strong>is being remade by Sony Pictures and Blumhouse, with Bryan Fuller attached to direct. The story of a young man and the murderous car he buys was originally directed by John Carpenter and based on the book by Stephen King. Deadline<\/a> reports that this updated version will not change the 80s setting of the subject matter.<\/p>\n

King has had many works adapted for film and television.<\/p>\n

Most recently, his 1978 novel The Stand<\/em> was made into a miniseries for the second time over at what was then CBS All Access and has since been rebranded Paramount Plus. His 2006 book Lisey\u2019s Story<\/em> was adapted into an Apple TV Plus limited series starring Julianne Moore and Clive Owen that is currently airing new episodes.<\/p>\n

Fuller has an extensive list of genre credits, including writing and producing duties on Star Trek: Deep Space Nine<\/em><\/strong>, Star Trek: Voyager<\/em><\/strong>, and Star Trek: Discovery<\/em><\/strong>. He has also written for other series that make him seem like a particularly good fit to tackle King\u2019s material, namely Hannibal<\/strong> <\/em>and American Gods<\/em><\/strong>. Joining Fuller on the new film are producers Jason Blum from Blumhouse, Vincenzo Natali, and Steven Hoban.<\/p>\n

The original Christine<\/em><\/strong> earned a Saturn Award nomination for Best Horror Film in 1983 but lost to another project based on Stephen King\u2019s work, The Dead Zone<\/em>. Its memorable poster reads, \u201cHow do you kill something that can\u2019t possibly be alive?<\/p>\n
