{"id":27008,"date":"2024-11-02T14:04:32","date_gmt":"2024-11-02T18:04:32","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/cinemadailyus.com\/?p=27008"},"modified":"2024-11-02T14:04:32","modified_gmt":"2024-11-02T18:04:32","slug":"tom-cruise-in-talks-for-days-of-thunder-2","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/cinemadailyus.com\/?p=27008","title":{"rendered":"Tom Cruise in Talks for Days of Thunder 2"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>\u00a9Courtesy of Paramount Pictures<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">Tom Cruise and Paramount Pictures have reportedly been in talks about a sequel to his 1990 NASCAR racing movie <strong>Days of Thunder<\/strong>, according to<a href=\"https:\/\/www.hollywoodreporter.com\/movies\/movie-news\/tom-cruise-days-of-thunder-sequel-paramount-1236051723\/\"> THR<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">Maybe it\u2019s not one that you\u2019d expect it&#8230;but the original film was produced by the original &#8216;Top Gun&#8217; team, consisting of director Tony Scott, producer Don Simpson, and Jerry Bruckheimer, this movie received mixed reviews upon release and only achieved $157 million worldwide from a production budget of $60 million.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">Nowadays, it&#8217;s most commonly remembered as the film that Cruise and Nicole Kidman met, with Scott&#8217;s action-packed direction and a solid musical score by Hans Zimmer.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">It is expected that Cruise will restore the property in the same way that <strong>Top Gun: Maverick<\/strong> did for <strong>Top Gun<\/strong> a few years ago. But a few years ago, Cruise canceled a potential TV series called <strong>Days of Thunder<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<ins class=\"adsbygoogle\" style=\"display:block\" data-ad-client=\"ca-pub-1774669342741533\" data-ad-slot=\"1211148813\" data-ad-format=\"auto\" data-full-width-responsive=\"true\"><\/ins>\n<p class=\"p1\">Potential writers are now able to apply for the project. But the 62-year-old actor-producer\u2019s packed with his schedule, he will collaborate with <strong><i>The Revenant<\/i><\/strong> filmmaker Alejandro G. I\u00f1\u00e1rritu\u2019s mysterious new film for Warner Bros.\/Legendary and Doug Liman&#8217;s Space movie are both in the works.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">He also has the responsibility of promoting the recently finished <strong>Mission: Impossible 8<\/strong>, which has a budget that&#8217;s estimated to be approaching $400 million due to various delays. According to the trade, Paramount is considering promoting the film as the final entry in the series to increase interest, but Cruise has resisted saying a public goodbye to Ethan Hunt.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><strong><i>Days of Thunder<\/i><\/strong> certainly has its devotees, among them Tony Scott fan and collaborator Quentin Tarantino. Tarantino said, \u201cHands down my favorite [racing movie] is\u00a0<strong><i>Days of Thunder<\/i><\/strong>,\u201d the director\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/f1socialdiary.wordpress.com\/2013\/08\/21\/quentin-tarantino-my-favourite-racing-movies\/\"><span class=\"s1\">was quoted<\/span><\/a>\u00a0as saying in 2013. \u201cYeah, yeah, you laugh, but seriously, I\u2019m a big fan. Sure, it had a big budget, big stars and a big director in Tony Scott, but it had the fun of those early [American International Picture racing] movies.
