Today, Disney+ introduced the award-winning filmmakers of Lucasfilm<\/a>\u2019s upcoming The Star War : Skelton Crews<\/strong>\u00a0<\/a>series with a roundtable video featuring Jon Watts, Christopher Ford, Jake Schreier, Bryce Dallas Howard<\/a> and David Lowery. During the roundtable, the filmmakers take a deep dive into the series and discuss\u00a0<\/span>their inspirations and visions that fueled bringing it to life.<\/p>\n

Head writers and executive producers Watts and Ford pulled together a \u201ccrew\u201d of their own when they set off to find a cadre of directors to helm the space-adventure series. And what they found were some of Hollywood\u2019s most talented and exciting directors whose grasp of storytelling through the lens has made them standouts. In addition to Watts, who directed two episodes, the remaining episodes of The Star Wars : Skeleton Crew<\/strong> are helmed by Lee Isaac Chung, known for Twisters<\/strong>; David Lowery who helmed The Green Knight<\/strong>; The Mandalorian<\/strong>\u2019s Bryce Dallas Howard; Jake Schreier, who recently wrapped the upcoming Thunderbolts*<\/strong>; and the Daniels, who rose to fame with the Academy Award-winning \u201cEverything Everywhere All at Once.\u201d<\/p>\n

Join the filmmakers as they discuss The Star Wars : Skeleton Crew<\/strong>\u00a0and showcase scenes from Lucasfilm\u2019s newest adventure, which <\/span>follows the journey of four kids who make a mysterious discovery on their seemingly safe home planet, then get lost in a strange and dangerous galaxy. Finding their way home\u2014and meeting unlikely allies and enemies\u2014will be a greater adventure than they ever imagined.<\/p>\n<\/ins>\n

The series stars Jude Law<\/a>, Ravi Cabot-Conyers, Ryan Kiera Armstrong, Kyriana Kratter, Robert Timothy Smith, Tunde Adebimpe, Kerry Condon and Nick Frost. Episodes are directed by Jon\u00a0<\/b>Watts, David Lowery, the Daniels (Daniel Kwan and Daniel Scheinert) Jake Schreier, Bryce Dallas Howard and Lee Isaac Chung.<\/p>\n

Jon Watts and Christopher Ford are the head writers and also serve as executive producers along with Jon Favreau, Dave Filoni, Kathleen Kennedy and Colin Wilson. Chris Buongiorno,\u00a0Karen Gilchrist and Carrie Beck are the co-executive producers, and Susan McNamara and John Bartnicki are the producers.<\/p>\n

Star Wars<\/i>: Skeleton Crew<\/strong> launches on December 3 with the first two episodes, exclusively on Disney+.<\/p>\n<\/ins>\n

Jon Watts\u00a0<\/span><\/b>(Head Writer, Executive Producer, Director) directed the \u201cSpider-Man: Homecoming\u201d trilogy for Marvel\/Sony. Most recently, he directed \u201cWolfs\u201d for Sony\/Apple. Watts also directed and co-wrote the independent films \u201cClown\u201d\u00a0<\/i>and \u201cCop Car.\u201d In television, he directs and executive produces the FX series \u201cThe Old Man.\u201d For \u201cSkeleton Crew\u201d Watts went behind the camera to direct Episodes 101 and 108.<\/p>\n

Jake Schreier\u00a0<\/span><\/b>(Director)\u00a0<\/b>is currently in\u00a0post\u00a0on Marvel Studios\u2019 \u201cThunderbolts*,\u201d\u00a0starring Florence Pugh, David Harbour, Sebastian Stan and Julia Louis-Dreyfus.\u00a0He was nominated for a Best Directing Emmy\u00ae on Netflix\/A24\u2019s series \u201cBeef\u201d and won an Emmy\u00ae, Golden Globe\u00ae, and Critics Choice Award for executive producing the show. Schreier\u00a0directed the Sundance breakout \u201cRobot & Frank\u201d and is also known for his music video work. His short film for Kendrick Lamar\u2019s \u201cWe Cry Together\u201d won the Grand Prix at Cannes. He came on board to direct Episode 105 of \u201cSkeleton Crew.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/ins>\n

Bryce Dallas Howard\u00a0<\/span><\/b>(Director) is a multi-hyphenate creator, who continues to work both on-screen and behind the camera. As a filmmaker, Howard directed on several live-action\u00a0Star Wars<\/i>\u00a0series, including \u201cThe Mandalorian\u201d\u00a0<\/i>(her behind-the-scenes work for the show is available on \u201cDisney Gallery: The Mandalorian\u201d) as well as episodes for \u201cThe Book of Boba Fett.\u201d\u00a0<\/i>She also directed and produced the feature-length documentary\u00a0<\/i>\u201cDads\u201d\u00a0<\/i>with Imagine Entertainment on AppleTV+ and recently wrapped production on her next feature-length documentary \u201cPets\u201d\u00a0<\/i>for Disney+. Howard is attached to direct and produce the \u201cFlight of the Navigator\u201d\u00a0<\/i>remake for Disney. She has received numerous accolades for her directing work, including being shortlisted for an Oscar\u00ae in 2012 for her half-hour film \u201cWhen You Find Me.\u201d Howard also produced the Sony Classics film \u201cRestless\u201d\u00a0<\/i>with director Gus Van Sant. Howard directs Episode 106 of \u201cSkeleton Crew.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

David Lowery\u00a0<\/span><\/b>(Director) works successfully across indie films and franchises as both writer and director is currently in post-production on A24\u2019s epic, pop melodrama \u201cMother Mary,\u201d starring Anne Hathaway and Michaela Coel. Lowery\u2019s other notable work includes \u201cThe Green Knight,\u201d \u201cA Ghost Story,\u201d \u201cPeter Pan & Wendy,\u201d \u201cPete\u2019s Dragon,\u201d \u201cPioneer,\u201d \u201cSt. Nick,\u201d \u201cAin’t Them Bodies Saints\u201d and \u201cThe Old Man & the Gun.\u201d\u00a0\u00a0Lowery directs \u201cSkeleton Crew\u201d\u2019s Episodes 102 and 103. Lee Isaac Chung\u2019s\u00a0<\/span><\/b>latest film \u201cTwisters,\u201d starring Daisy Edgar-Jones, Glen Powell, and Anthony Ramos, opened on July 19, 2024, and had the best-ever box office opening weekend for a natural disaster film. His breakout film \u201cMinari\u201d won the Grand Jury and Audience Awards at Sundance in 2020 and garnered Golden Globe\u00ae and Critics\u2019 Choice wins, along with multiple Academy Award\u00ae, Independent Spirit, BAFTA and SAG\u00ae nominations. The film was named one of the ten best films of 2020 by the American Film Institute and by the National Board of Review, which also awarded Isaac Best Original Screenplay. Chung\u2019s other projects include \u201cMunyurangabo,\u201d which premiered in 2007 at the Cannes Film Festival to critical acclaim and episodes of \u201cThe Mandalorian.\u201d He directed episode 107 of \u201cSkeleton Crew.\u201d<\/p>\n
