Australian filmmaker Justin Kurzel is no stranger to true-life crime dramas, beginning with his 2011 breakout film, <\/span>The Snowtown Murders<\/i><\/b>, and then making 2019\u2019s <\/span>True History of the Kelly Gang<\/i><\/b>, about the 19th century gang of bank robbers.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

For <\/span>The Order<\/i><\/b>, Kurzel recruited Oscar nominee Jude Law, Tye Sheridan and Jurnee Smollett to play the law enforcement agents in pursuit of a gang of white supremacists in the Pacific Northwest, whose own series of bank robberies and heists lead to a far more nefarious domestic terrorism plot. Kurzel also reunited with actor Nicholas Hoult \u2013 who played a law enforcement role in <\/span>Kelly Gang<\/i><\/b> \u2013 to portray white supremacist leader <\/span>Robert Jay \u201cBob\u201d Matthews<\/span><\/a>, who masterminded the crime spree and the terrorism that plagued the FBI for many years during the early \u201880s.<\/span><\/p>\n

<\/ins><\/span><\/p>\n

Cinema Daily US <\/span><\/i>spoke with Kurzel about returning to the true crime world, which he has mastered quite well over his career, and he told us about recreating the ’80s for his latest period piece and working with his brother Jed, who has composed the music for all his films. We also asked him about the status of his doc, <\/span>Ellis Park<\/i><\/b>, about Australian musicianI and Nick Cave collaborator, Warren Ellis, which premiered in Australia with no information about it ever being seen on these shores.<\/span><\/p>\n
