Picture &#8211; \u00a9\u00a02023 &#8211; Warner Bros<\/p>\r\n<p>Is a sequel in the works for <a href=\"https:\/\/www.imdb.com\/title\/tt1517268\/\"><em><strong>Barbie<\/strong><\/em>,<\/a> the blockbuster movie from 2023 that earned $1.4 billion at the global box office? <br \/><br \/>According to a story by <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hollywoodreporter.com\/movies\/movie-news\/barbie-sequel-status-greta-grewig-noah-baumbach-warner-bros-1236083434\/\"><em>The Hollywood Reporter<\/em><\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.imdb.com\/name\/nm1950086\/\">Greta Gerwig<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.imdb.com\/name\/nm0000876\/\">Noah Baumbach<\/a>, the husband-and-wife team that co-wrote the <em><strong>Barbie<\/strong> <\/em>script, are now in the \u201cearly stages\u201d of developing another film about the iconic doll for Warner Bros. However, representatives for both the studio and the filmmakers have declared that <em>THR<\/em>\u2019s reporting is inaccurate. A spokesperson for Gerwig and Baumbach said, flatly, that \u201cThere is no legitimacy to this reporting.\u201d<br \/><br \/>Gerwig and Baumbach, who had earlier collaborated on the scripts for <em><strong>Mistress America<\/strong><\/em> and <em><strong>Frances Ha, <\/strong><\/em>are currently enmeshed in other projects. Baumbach is in postproduction for a yet-untitled movie that will be released next year by Netflix. It stars Gerwig, George Clooney, Adam Sandler, Laura Dern, Billy Crudup, Riley Keough, Jim Broadbent, Patrick Wilson and co-writer Emily Mortimer. Meanwhile, Gerwig is in preproduction for another Netflix project, an adaptation of the <em><strong>Chronicles of Narnia<\/strong><\/em>.<\/p>\r\n<p><ins class=\"adsbygoogle\" style=\"display:block\" data-ad-client=\"ca-pub-1774669342741533\" data-ad-slot=\"1211148813\" data-ad-format=\"auto\" data-full-width-responsive=\"true\"><\/ins><br \/><br \/>No details have been released about the storyline for any upcoming sequel. In October 2023, Gerwig participated in a Writers Guild of America panel discussion in which she said: \u201cI find whenever I\u2019ve shared ideas too early, they become bad, then the movie\u2019s not going to be any good. I don\u2019t like to talk about things too early or pitch things or show treatments too early because it feels like it\u2019s gonna somehow wreck what the movie is.\u201d<br \/><br \/>Paying tribute to Gerwig\u2019s talent, Margot Robbie, who portrayed Barbie in the 2023 film, said in February that \u201cShe cracked the code on this film, as only she could. It is such a singular vision, and Greta brought so much humanity, creativity, inspiration, magic and joy to [the film]\u201d<br \/><br \/>In a review of <em><strong>Barbie<\/strong><\/em>, Lovia Gyarkye wrote how. \u201cGerwig delights in the richness and weirdness of her material in this clever send-up of Barbie dolls and their fraught legacy.
