Jamie Lee Curtis, who won an Oscar, is the favored choice to star in the upcoming Murder, She Wrote<\/strong> film at Universal, as Deadline<\/a> reported. Although no deal has been reached, it is believed that she will be playing the role of Jessica Fletcher, which was popularized by Angela Lansbury in the hit series that ran for 12 seasons on CBS.<\/p>\n

The script is by Lauren Schuker Blum and Rebecca Angelo, who are the duo behind the Craig Gillespie-directed drama Dumb Money, the production of Murder, She Wrote is being overseen by Lord Miller and Amy Pascal.<\/p>\n

Mystery genre is hot, the Knives Out trilogy featuring Daniel Craig’s Benoit Blanc is catching the attention of fans, while Kenneth Branagh’s Hercule Poirot mysteries are also gaining popularity.<\/p>\n<\/ins>\n

From 1984 to 1996, Lansbury was the starring cast in one of the most successful and longest-running TV shows in history. Jessica Fletcher, who was a retired schoolteacher, now writes successful mystery novels that demonstrate her uncanny ability to solve real-life murders.<\/p>\n

The show revolved around the seaside town of Cabot Cove, Maine, but Jessica frequently travels to different places as cases unfold. The show was a Sunday night staple, receiving 41 Emmy nominations, with Lansbury being nominated every year the series aired. It’s a mystery why she didn’t win. The series, which was created by Peter S. Fischer, Richard Levinson, and William Link, was aired on Universal Television.<\/p>\n

Curtis, who has won Best Supporting Actress Oscars for Everything, Everthing, Everywhere All at Once<\/strong>, is presently working alongside Pamela Anderson in the Vegas drama The Last Showgirl<\/strong> directed by Gia Coppola.
