All rights reserved.<\/p>\r\n<p>Warner Bros. and Legendary Entertainment have announced that <a href=\"https:\/\/www.imdb.com\/name\/nm0327944\/\">Alejandro G I\u00f1\u00e1rritu<\/a>\u2019s latest film, starring <a href=\"https:\/\/www.imdb.com\/name\/nm0000129\/\">Tom Cruise<\/a>, will be released on October 2, 2026. The cast of the yet-untitled movie will also include <a href=\"https:\/\/www.imdb.com\/name\/nm1197689\/\">Sandra H\u00fcller<\/a>, John Goodman, Michael Stuhlbarg, Jesse Plemons, Sophie Wilde, and Riz Ahmed.<br \/><br \/>According to the official announcement, the upcoming film will follow \u201cthe most powerful man in the world [as he] embarks on a frantic mission to prove he is humanity\u2019s savior before the disaster he\u2019s unleashed destroys everything.\u201d<br \/><br \/>The film will be the Mexican director\u2019s first English-language production since <em><strong>The Revenant<\/strong> <\/em>in 2015. It will also mark his continued collaboration with screenwriters Alexander Dinelaris and Nicolas Giacobone, who wrote the script for his <em><strong>Birdman or (The Unexpected Virtue of Ignorance)<\/strong><\/em> in 2014. They will be joined by Sabina Berman, who is listed as a co-writer. Earlier films by I\u00f1\u00e1rritu include <em><strong>Amores Perros<\/strong><\/em> (2000), <em><strong>21 Grams<\/strong><\/em> (2003), <em><strong>Babel<\/strong> <\/em>(2006), <em><strong>Biutiful<\/strong> <\/em>(2010), and <em><strong>Bardo, False Chronicle of a Handful of Truths<\/strong> <\/em>(2022). Both <em><strong>Amores Perros<\/strong><\/em> and <em><strong>Biutiful<\/strong> <\/em>garnered Oscar nominations for Best International Feature Film.<\/p>\r\n<p>I\u00f1\u00e1rritu is the first Mexican filmmaker to be nominated for either director or producer in the history of the Academy Awards, the first to win an Academy Award for Best Original Screenplay and for Best Picture, the first to receive the Best Director Award at Cannes, and the first to win a DGA Award for Outstanding Directing.<br \/><br \/>Tom Cruise\u2019s next film, to be released in the U.S. in May of 2025, will be <a href=\"https:\/\/www.imdb.com\/title\/tt9603208\/\"><em><strong>Mission Impossible \u2013 The Final Reckoning<\/strong><\/em><\/a>, the eighth installment in the franchise. H\u00fcller just completed making <a href=\"https:\/\/www.imdb.com\/title\/tt12042730\/\"><em><strong>Project: <\/strong><strong><em>Ha<\/em>il Mary<\/strong><\/em><\/a>, directed by Phil Lord and Christopher Miller and scheduled for release by Amazon MGM in March of 2026.<br \/><br \/>Warner Bros. also announced several changes to its release schedule over the next several years. <em><strong>The Batman<\/strong><\/em> sequel, which had originally been slated for IMAX release on October 2, 2026, will instead premiere a year later, on October 1, 2027.
