S. Lewis\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.imdb.com\/title\/tt9077514\/\"><em><strong>The Chronicles of Narnia<\/strong><\/em><\/a> is scheduled for release at the end of 2026. The much-anticipated film will first be screened in 1000 IMAX theaters on November 26, Thanksgiving Day, and have its Netflix debut a month later, on Christmas Day.<br \/><br \/>According to the official news release, the IMAX-Netflix partnership \u201cunderscores the value of IMAX as a global event platform and reinforces its relationships with the world\u2019s greatest filmmakers. It also demonstrates IMAX\u2019s commitment to bringing unique events and experiences to its fans and exhibition partners around the world.\u201d<br \/><br \/>Lewis\u2019s seven <strong><em>Namia<\/em> <\/strong>books have sold more than 115 million copies globally. Gerwig was given the green light to develop the film in 2020, two years after announcing the project. She is best known for directing the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.imdb.com\/title\/tt1517268\/\"><em><strong>Barbie<\/strong> <\/em><\/a>blockbuster that grossed $1.44 billion for Warner Bros., its most lucrative production ever. It won eight Academy Award nominations and clinched an Oscar for the song \u201cWhat Was I Made For?\u201d Gerwig had earlier directed an adaptation of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.imdb.com\/title\/tt3281548\/\"><em><strong>Little Women<\/strong><\/em><\/a> and won an Oscar nomination for directing <a href=\"https:\/\/www.imdb.com\/title\/tt4925292\/\"><em><strong>Lady Bird<\/strong><\/em><\/a>.<\/p>\r\n<p><ins class=\"adsbygoogle\" style=\"display:block\" data-ad-client=\"ca-pub-1774669342741533\" data-ad-slot=\"1211148813\" data-ad-format=\"auto\" data-full-width-responsive=\"true\"><\/ins>\u00a0<br \/><br \/>Sources report that negotiations were not easy, despite the promise of lucrative returns. As <a href=\"https:\/\/www.indiewire.com\/news\/business\/greta-gerwig-narnia-imax-netflix-release-analysis-1235086126\/\"><em>IndieWire<\/em><\/a>\u2019s Tony Maglio put it, \u201cIMAX is able to tell its exhibitors what to program \u2014 Narnia would\u2019ve been in no theaters if it didn\u2019t get IMAX exclusivity \u2014 so that wasn\u2019t much of an obstacle. A far-larger one was Netflix\u2019s history \u2014 and past comments \u2014 getting in its own way. That took about a month to get past. \u2018It was fairly complicated,\u2019 our source said.\u201d<br \/><br \/>Netflix typically prefers to have its productions debut on its own platform, though there have been exceptions to this game plan.
