Francis Ford Coppola<\/a> has expressed his disapproval of being crowned the worst director for “Megalopolis<\/strong><\/a>” after the film was nominated for six Razzies, including for its worst picture and screenplay.<\/p>\n

The director’s $120 million passion project has already been subject to criticism and floundering at the box office, earning only $12 million globally.Megalopolis was awarded by the Razzies, the annual pre-Oscars fake awards for the worst movies of the year, on Friday.<\/p>\n

Coppola took to Instagram to reply: \u201cI am thrilled to accept the\u00a0Razzie\u00a0award\u00a0in so many important categories for\u00a0@megalopolisfilm<\/a>, and for\u00a0the distinctive honor of being nominated as the worst director, worst screenplay, and worst picture at a time when so few have the courage to go against the prevailing trends of contemporary moviemaking!\u201d<\/p>\n

Continued the director: \u201cIn this wreck of\u00a0a world today, where ART is given scores as if it were professional wrestling, I chose to NOT follow the gutless rules laid down by an industry so terrified of risk that despite the enormous pool of young talent at its disposal, may not create pictures that will be relevant and alive\u00a050 years from now.\u201d<\/p>\n

He concluded by noting: \u201cWhat an honor to stand alongside a great and courageous filmmaker like Jswswqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqq`qq who impoverished himself completely to make one of cinema\u2019s most beloved failures, “PLAYTIME!<\/strong>” My sincere thanks to all my brilliant colleagues who joined me to make our work of art, “MEGALOPOLIS<\/strong>“, and let us remind ourselves us that box-office is only about money, and like war, stupidity and politics has no true place in our future.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/ins>\n
