The 78th Cannes Film Festival<\/a> is looking to have some promising offerings, like Wes Anderson<\/a>‘s “The Phoenician Scheme<\/a>“, Richard Linklater<\/a>‘s “Nouvelle Vague<\/a>“, Ari Aster<\/a>‘s “Eddington<\/a>“, and Chie Hayakawa<\/a>‘s “Renoir<\/a>“, which will be premiering on the Croisette. This year’s lineup was announced at a press conference in Paris Thursday morning by the general and president of the Cannes delegation, Thierry Fr\u00e9maux and Iris Knobloch.<\/p>\n

Kelly Reichardt is one of the many auteur heavyweights who will return to Cannes in 2025 with “The Mastermind<\/strong>“, an art-heist drama starring Josh O’Connor and John Magaro that takes place in the backdrop of the Vietnam War.<\/p>\n

After winning “The Worst Person in the World<\/strong>” in 2021, Joachim Trier, Norwegian filmmaker, is back on the Croisette with his new film, “Sentimental Value<\/strong>“, which has Renate Reinsve in it, and Jafar Panahi, who has been dissident Iran, who will be back in Cannes competition with his latest drama, “A Simple Accident<\/strong>“.<\/p>\n

Neon, a U.S. distributor that has won five Palme d’Or awards in a row\u2014”Parasite<\/strong>” (2019), “Titane<\/strong>” (2021), “Triangle of Sadness<\/strong>” (2022), “Anatomy of a Fall<\/strong>” (2023), “Anora<\/strong>” (2024)\u2014has two chances to make it six straight, with both “Alpha<\/strong>” and Trier’s “Sentimental Value<\/strong>” in its stable.<\/p>\n

On Tuesday, it was announced that Tom Cruise will return to Cannes for “The Final Reckoning of Mission: Impossible<\/strong>“, which will be screened outside of competition on May 23 by Paramount. The Palme d’Or for lifetime achievement will be awarded to Robert De Niro at this year’s Cannes opening ceremony.<\/p>\n<\/ins>\n
