Ryan Coogler<\/a> is already anticipating what’s next since his “Sinners<\/strong><\/a>” film has become the most highly rated wide release of the decade and is expected to surpass expectations at the box office this weekend. On Last Podcast on the Left, he answered a question about his next project and gave a straightforward answer: the long-rumored reboot of “The X-Files<\/strong><\/a>” series.<\/p>\n

The project was first made public when Coogler’s production company Proximity secured a first-look TV deal with Disney in 2021, and it was later revealed in 2023 when original series creator Chris Carter revealed that Coogler was creating a new take that would feature a diverse cast.<\/p>\n

Carter announced last year that he wouldn’t be participating in the show, but Coogler was given his approval to proceed.<\/p>\n<\/ins>\n

\u201cI\u2019m working on X-Files. That\u2019s what\u2019s immediately next. So, I\u2019ve been excited about that for a long time, and I\u2019m fired up to get back to it, and that, you know, some of those episodes, if we do our jobs right, will be really f\u2013king scary.\u201d<\/i><\/p>\n

He confirms he has touched base with original star Gillian Anderson, saying \u201cshe\u2019s incredible and fingers crossed there\u201d which suggests it\u2019s potentially a revival rather than a ground-up reboot. He adds:\u201cWe\u2019re going to try to make something really great, bro, and make something for the real “The X-Files<\/strong>” fans and maybe find some new ones.\u201d<\/i><\/i><\/p>\n

FBI agents Fox Mulder (David Duchovny<\/a>) and Dana Scully (Gillian Anderson<\/a>) were the focus of the original series, which involved investigating supernatural phenomena that ranged from a global conspiracy concerning alien colonization to more terrifying events that involved all kinds of creatures.<\/p>\n

The original show ran for nine seasons from 1993 to 2001, before being renewed for two more seasons in 2016. 218 episodes and two feature films were made in total. 16 Emmys were won during its time and had a significant influence on many other TV genre projects.<\/p>\n<\/ins>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
