In a recent interview on the <em>Today Show<\/em> in Australia, Cruise revealed he is working on sequels for the 2022 <a href=\"https:\/\/www.imdb.com\/title\/tt1745960\/\"><em><strong>T<\/strong><strong>op Gun: Maverick<\/strong><\/em><\/a> movie as well as the 1990 auto-racing thriller <a href=\"https:\/\/www.imdb.com\/title\/tt0099371\/\"><em><strong>Days of Thunder<\/strong><\/em><\/a>. <br \/><br \/>He was quoted in the interview on Australia&#8217;s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=EjhYuIIkBjA\">Today<\/a> as saying: \u201cYeah, we\u2019re thinking and talking about many different stories and what could we do and what\u2019s possible. It took me 35 years to figure out <em><strong>Top Gun: Maverick<\/strong><\/em>, so all of these things we\u2019re working on, we\u2019re discussing <strong><em>Days of Thunder<\/em><\/strong> and <em><strong>Top Gun: Maverick<\/strong><\/em>.&#8221;<br \/><br \/>Cruise added that \u201cThere\u2019s numerous other films that we\u2019re actively working on right now. I\u2019m always shooting a film, prepping a film, posting a film. I just finished a film with <a href=\"https:\/\/www.imdb.com\/name\/nm0327944\/\">Alejandro I\u00f1\u00e1rritu<\/a> too, who did <em><strong>The Revenant<\/strong><\/em>, and we\u2019ll be coming out with that. That was an extraordinary experience and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.imdb.com\/name\/nm0003160\/\">Christopher McQuarrie <\/a>and I are always working on several different films.\u201d<\/p>\r\n<p><ins class=\"adsbygoogle\" style=\"display:block\" data-ad-client=\"ca-pub-1774669342741533\" data-ad-slot=\"1211148813\" data-ad-format=\"auto\" data-full-width-responsive=\"true\"><\/ins>\u00a0<br \/><br \/>The 62-year-old Cruise had earlier been quoted in <em>The Hollywood Reporte<\/em>r as saying: &#8220;I actually said I&#8217;m going to make movies into my 80s; actually, I&#8217;m going to make them into my 100s.&#8221;<br \/><br \/>Both <em><strong>Top Gun: Maverick<\/strong><\/em> and <em><strong>Days of Thunder<\/strong><\/em> were tremendous box-office successes. <em><strong>Top Gun<\/strong><\/em> grossed $1.49 billion globally and <em><strong>Days of Thunder<\/strong><\/em> took in $157 million. The previous figures are not adjusted for inflation.<br \/><br \/>Released in May 2022, <em><strong>Top Gun: Maverick<\/strong><\/em> went on to become a box office smash, grossing $1.49 billion worldwide. The film, in which Cruise played the role of Captain Pete \u201cMaverick\u201d Mitchell, earned an Academy Award nomination for Best Picture. <em><strong>Days of Thunder<\/strong><\/em> grossed $157 million worldwide at the end of its theatrical run (not adjusted for inflation). <br \/><br \/>The upcoming film by Alejandro Gonz\u00e1lez I\u00f1\u00e1rritu will feature Cruise as well as Sandra H\u00fcller, John Goodman, Michael Stuhlbarg, Jesse Plemons and Sophie Wilde.
