{"id":30005,"date":"2025-05-31T03:17:56","date_gmt":"2025-05-31T07:17:56","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/cinemadailyus.com\/?p=30005"},"modified":"2025-05-31T03:17:56","modified_gmt":"2025-05-31T07:17:56","slug":"karate-kid-legends-video-review","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/cinemadailyus.com\/?p=30005","title":{"rendered":"\u2018Karate Kid: Legends\u2019 Video Review:  Our Two Critics Debate the Merits of Sony\u2019s Update of the \u201880s Classic"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">41 years after the 1984 classic, <\/span><b><i>The Karate Kid<\/i><\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, we\u2019re getting a new version of the movie with <\/span><b><i>Karate Kid: Legends<\/i><\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, bringing back Ralph Macchio from the original films and the Netflix series, <\/span><b><i>Cobra Kai<\/i><\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, as well as Jackie Chan from the 2010 film.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The film follows Ben Wang\u2019s Li Fong as he\u2019s brought from Beijing to New York City by his doctor mother (Ming-na Wen), where he befriends Mia (Sadie Stanley) and her pizza shop owning father Victor (Joshua Jackson) but eventually fall afoul of a loan shark (Tim Rozon) and the city\u2019s karate champion (Aramis Knight), who used to date Mia.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Cinema Daily US<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> critics Matthew Schuchman and Edward Douglas got on Zoom to discuss and debate the new Sony release, which hits theaters nationwide on Friday, May 30, so watch the video player above to see whether they liked it or loathed it.
