Two other Cannes entries from this year\u2014 Kleber Mendon\u00e7a Filho\u2018s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.imdb.com\/title\/tt27847051\/\"><em><strong>T<\/strong><strong><em>h<\/em>e Secret Agent<\/strong><\/em> <\/a>and Jafar Panahi\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.imdb.com\/title\/tt36491653\/\"><em><strong>It Was Just An Accident<\/strong><\/em><\/a>\u2014are likely to be in contention for an Oscar in the International Features category. <br \/><br \/><em><strong>Sentimental Value,<\/strong> <\/em>a Norwegian entry<strong>, <\/strong>examines the emotional connections between two sisters, Nora and Agnes, when their estranged father, played by <a href=\"https:\/\/www.imdb.com\/name\/nm0001745\/\">Stellan Skarsg\u00e5rd,<\/a> casts Nora in a film he\u2019s making but passes over Agnes when Nora declines the role. Also starring in the film are <a href=\"https:\/\/www.imdb.com\/name\/nm4561559\/\">Renate Reinsve<\/a>, Inga Ibsdotter Lilleaas, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.imdb.com\/name\/nm1102577\/\">Elle Fanning<\/a>, Cory Michael Smith and Anders Danielsen Lie.<\/p>\r\n<p>In addition to a record-breaking 15-minute standing ovation at its Cannes premiere, <em><strong>Sentimental Value<\/strong><\/em> has earned much critical acclaim: in <a href=\"https:\/\/variety.com\/2025\/film\/reviews\/sentimental-value-review-aafeksjonsverdi-1236405810\/\"><em>Variety<\/em><\/a>, Peter Debruge praised the film as a \u201cmature and moving tale,\u201d while <a href=\"https:\/\/www.indiewire.com\/criticism\/movies\/sentimental-value-movie-review-joachim-trier-1235125511\/\"><em><strong>IndieWire<\/strong><\/em><\/a>\u2018s David Ehrlich called it \u201ca layered masterpiece that \u2018<em>The Worst Person in the World<\/em>\u2019 director Joachim Trier has been working toward for his entire life.\u201d<\/p>\r\n<p><ins class=\"adsbygoogle\" style=\"display:block\" data-ad-client=\"ca-pub-1774669342741533\" data-ad-slot=\"1211148813\" data-ad-format=\"auto\" data-full-width-responsive=\"true\"><\/ins>\u00a0<br \/><br \/>At the press conference introducing the film, Trier said to Fanning: &#8220;Charli XCX gave a little hello to us, and we are super grateful.
