A biopic about the late Italian tenor Luciano Pavarotti<\/a> is being developed by Pietro Valsecchi<\/a>, the renowned producer known for the 2016 comedy film Quo Vado,<\/strong><\/em><\/a> which became Italy\u2019s all-time blockbuster. Valsecchi said he will soon be announcing an actor to play the lead, as well as a director for the project, which aims to emphasize the \u201cItalian soul\u201d of Pavarotti while also giving him a universal appeal.

The screenplay for the proposed film is being written by Leonardo Fasoli<\/a>, a head writer on the Gomorrah<\/strong> <\/em><\/a>series, which is Italy\u2019s primary TV export. As part of his strategy, Valsecchi has obtained a consulting agreement with Pavarotti\u2019s second wife, Nicoletta Mantovani<\/a>.\u00a0
According to a statement from the producers, she \u201cwill be actively involved in every aspect of the project, contributing first-hand to the narrative and artistic construction of the film.\u201d

Soon after the singer\u2019s death in 2007, Mantovani established the Luciano Pavarotti Foundation, which is making available documents, letters, and images from a museum dedicated to Pavarotti located in Modena, the northern Italian city that was the singer\u2019s home.<\/p>\r\n

Luciano Pavarotti was born into a working-class family there in 1935, the son of a baker and cigar-factory worker. He traced his interest in opera to his father, who was an amateur tenor. Pavarotti’s widow was quoted in Variety<\/em> <\/a>as saying that \u201cLuciano had a big dream, which was to bring opera back to the people, because when he was a kid opera was sung in the streets and was just like pop music today.\u201d

Over the course of his career, Pavarotti joined with Placido Domingo and Jos\u00e9 Carreras in the Three Tenors project as well as his Pavarotti and Friends charity concerts, in which he performed with rock stars such as performing with rock stars such as Bono, Elton John, and Bono.<\/p>\r\n

Valsecchi said he is seeking an Italian actor to play the lead and will soon be announcing a director for the project.\u00a0
