Actress Li Jun Li has been working for nearly 15 years, but she first started getting attention when she played Lady Fay Zhu in Damien Chazelle’s Babylon<\/strong><\/em>, a role that was inspired by Hollywood legend, Anna May Wong. Earlier this year, she starred in Ryan Coogler’s\u00a0Sinners<\/strong><\/em>, as Grace Chow, a Chinese-American woman who ends up trapped in a juke joint when it’s attacked by vampires.<\/p>\n

Now, Ms. Li can be seen in the title role of\u00a0Alma & The Wolf<\/strong><\/em>, directed by Michael Patrick Jann of The State<\/a>. The movie stars Ethan Embry as Ren Accord, the sheriff of a small Oregon town who encounters Li’s Alma when she’s wandering down the road covered in blood, claiming that her dog was killed by a wolf. That encounter leads to Ren experiencing all sorts of strange occurrences around town, but it also throws him and Li into a relationship.<\/p>\n

Cinema Daily US<\/em> spoke with Ms. Li over Zoom last week for the interview where we not only discussed\u00a0Alma & The Wolf<\/em>, but also spoke about her role in\u00a0Sinners<\/em>, and how that was historically-accurate to the place of Chinese-Americans in the Deep South during the Jim Crow era.
