Sony Pictures Classics<\/a> announced today that they have acquired North American and worldwide airline rights to James Vanderbilt\u2019s ‘NUREMBERG<\/strong><\/a>‘ from Walden Media and Bluestone Entertainment. <\/span><\/p>\n

The film, written and directed by Vanderbilt and produced by Walden Media, Bluestone Entertainment and Mythology Entertainment, is a thrilling drama set in post-war Germany based on the book \u201cThe Nazi and the Psychiatrist\u201d by Jack El-Hai. ‘NUREMBERG<\/strong>‘ stars Academy Award\u00a0<\/b>Winner Russell Crowe (‘GLADIATOR<\/strong>‘), Academy Award\u202fWinner Rami Malek (‘BOHEMIAN RHAPSODY<\/strong>‘), and Academy Award\u202fNominee Michael Shannon (‘NOCTURNAL ANIMALS<\/strong>‘, ‘REVOLUTIONARY ROAD<\/strong>‘). <\/span><\/p>\n

Rounding out the all-star cast are Richard E. Grant (‘SALTBURN<\/strong>‘), Leo Woodall (‘BRIDGET JONES: MAD ABOUT THE BOY,’<\/strong>\u00a0‘One Day<\/strong>‘), John Slattery (‘Mad Men,’ <\/strong>‘SPOTLIGHT<\/strong>‘), Mark O\u2019Brien (‘READY OR NOT<\/strong>‘, ‘ARRIVAL<\/strong>‘), Colin Hanks (‘Fargo,’<\/strong>\u00a0‘KING KONG<\/strong>‘), Lydia Peckham (‘KINGDOM OF THE PLANET OF THE APES<\/strong>‘), Wrenn Schmidt (‘For All Mankind<\/strong>‘), Lotte Verbeek (‘Outlander<\/strong>‘), and Andreas Pietschmann (‘Dark<\/strong>,’ ‘1899<\/strong>‘). The film will be released in theaters nationwide on November 7, 2025, ahead of the 80th anniversary of the Trials.\u202f\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<\/ins>\n

‘NUREMBERG<\/strong>‘ chronicles the true story of the eponymous trials held by the Allies against the defeated Nazi regime. The film centers on American psychiatrist Douglas Kelley (Malek), who is tasked with determining whether Nazi prisoners are fit to stand trial for their war crimes and finds himself in a complex battle of wits with Hermann G\u00f6ring (Crowe), Hitler\u2019s right-hand man.<\/p>\n

The film is produced by Richard Saperstein, Bradley J. Fischer, James Vanderbilt, William Sherak, and Walden Media\u2019s Frank Smith, Benjamin Tappan, and Cherilyn Hawrysh, along with Istv\u00e1n Major of Filmsquad and George Freeman. Executive producers include Jack El-Hai, Brooke Saperstein, Annie Saperstein, Beau Turpin, W. Porter Payne, Jr., Paul Neinstein, and Sz\u00e9chenyi Funds G\u00e9za Deme and Tam\u00e1s Hajnal.<\/p>\n

James Vanderbilt previously wrote and directed ‘TRUTH<\/strong>,’ starring Cate Blanchett and Robert Redford. He also wrote ‘ZODIAC<\/strong>‘ for David Fincher for which he was nominated for a WGA award. He has written and produced over 20 films.<\/p>\n

The film is financed by Bluestone Entertainment, Walden Media, and Sz\u00e9chenyi Funds (Budapest, Hungary). Mythology Entertainment developed the project for over a decade after first acquiring the underlying rights to El-Hai\u2019s original article and book in 2011. WME Independent represented the worldwide rights to the film and negotiated the deal with Sony Pictures Classics on behalf of the filmmakers.<\/p>\n
