Over the past few months, the two studios jointly filed for copyright protection for the project\u2014a routine procedure that does not necessarily guarantee the film will go into production, however.<br \/><br \/>No further details about casting or creative personnel have been released, though press reports suggest that Seth Rogan might be a possible candidate. He\u2019d voiced a supporting character in <a href=\"https:\/\/www.imdb.com\/title\/tt6718170\/\"><em><strong>The Super Mario Bros.Movie<\/strong><\/em><\/a>, which was released in 2023 and may appear in a sequel due for release in 2026.<br \/><br \/>Originally released in 1981, <em>Donkey Kong<\/em> helped Nintendo gain a foothold in the new video game realm. In June of this year, Nintendo\u2019s president Shuntaro Furukawa teased investors by remarking: \u201calthough we cannot discuss our plans beyond <em><strong>The Legend of Zelda<\/strong> <\/em>movie at this time, we are working on various other projects.\u201d<\/p>\r\n<p><ins class=\"adsbygoogle\" style=\"display:block\" data-ad-client=\"ca-pub-1774669342741533\" data-ad-slot=\"1211148813\" data-ad-format=\"auto\" data-full-width-responsive=\"true\"><\/ins><br \/><br \/><em>Donkey Kong<\/em> is already being enjoyed by visitors to the Super Nintendo World theme park in Osaka, Japan, where the classic game already has an exclusive area devoted to it. In addition, Nintendo is promoting <a href=\"https:\/\/www.imdb.com\/title\/tt29477093\/\"><em>Donkey Kong Bananza<\/em> <\/a>as the second exclusive product\u2014after<em> Mario Kart World<\/em>\u2014on the newly released Switch 2 console.<br \/><br \/>If the <em>Donkey Kong<\/em> movie does become a reality, it would be the fourth film in Nintendo\u2019s effort to adapt its games to the big screen in addition to the two <em><strong>Mario Bros.<\/strong> <\/em>films and a live-action adaptation of <em><strong>Legend of Zelda<\/strong><\/em> scheduled for 2027. Other major franchises for the studio include <em>Animal Crossing, Kirby, Pokemon<\/em>, and <em>Super Smash Bros<\/em>.<br \/>The Nintendo\/Universal partnership on <em><strong>The Super Mario Bros.
