Very few were fortunate enough to witness Jeff Buckley live, but those who did often described it as transcendent, jaw-dropping, and emotionally shattering. As part of the theatrical release of “IT\u2019S NEVER OVER, JEFF BUCKLEY<\/strong>“, Magnolia Pictures<\/a> will proudly present 26 minutes of exclusive, remastered footage from a rare solo performance at The Middle East in Cambridge, MA, filmed on February 19, 1994, six months before the release of Grace.<\/i>\u00a0This previously unreleased material will screen immediately following the film and will only be available when the film hits theaters on August 8th<\/sup>, for an extremely limited time, offering both longtime fans and newcomers alike a rare opportunity to experience Jeff Buckley\u2019s raw, unfiltered brilliance.<\/p>\n

\u201cDiscovering this footage felt like a dream,\u201d said the film\u2019s Oscar-nominated director, Amy Berg<\/a>. \u201cI was instantly transported into that room, witnessing a barely discovered virtuosic talent alongside just a handful of others. I was left speechless\u2014and more than a few tears were shed. It\u2019s an absolute pleasure to share this newly mastered footage and give audiences the chance to experience it on the big screen.\u201d<\/p>\n

“IT\u2019S NEVER OVER: JEFF BUCKLEY<\/strong>” covers the life of the rising young star with an otherworldly voice and boundary-pushing artistry, who left the ’90s music world reeling when he died suddenly, at age 30, after the release of his critically acclaimed debut album \u201cGrace.\u201d Told through never-before-seen footage from Buckley\u2019s archives and intimate accounts from his mother Mary Guibert, former partners Rebecca Moore and Joan Wasser, Jeff\u2019s former bandmates, including Michael Tighe and Matt Johnson, and luminaries like Ben Harper and Aimee Mann, “IT\u2019S NEVER OVER, JEFF BUCKLEY<\/strong>” illuminates one of modern music\u2019s most influential and enigmatic figures.<\/p>\n<\/ins>\n

Buckley launched his career at a tribute to his late father, folk musician Tim Buckley, but quickly became a rising star himself and signed to Columbia Records. His only studio album, \u201cGrace,\u201d was released to astounding reviews and challenged conventional ideas of genre and gender. His intimate and influential cover of Leonard Cohen\u2019s \u201cHallelujah\u201d further catapulted him to fame. Still, under pressure to produce his second album, he retreated to Memphis to escape the spotlight and the ever-growing glare of the public eye.<\/p>\n

In a tragic accident, Buckley drowned in the Wolf River in Memphis in 1997, leaving behind an unfinished second album and a legion of devastated family, friends and fans. Over the decades since his passing, Buckley\u2019s legend has continued to grow, and a whole new generation of fans has begun to discover his music through all-new channels, including social media. Berg\u2019s evocative and sensitive portrait of Buckley makes space for both existing fans and newcomers alike, lifting up and celebrating his timeless body of work.<\/p>\n
