Created by Tomohiro Nishikado, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.imdb.com\/title\/tt0294282\/\"><em>Space invaders<\/em><\/a> became one of the most iconic games that depicted Earth being attacked by alien invaders. The success of the game helped propel the gaming industry in the 1980s and spawned sequels and remakes for arcades as well as home consoles.<br \/><br \/>The upcoming project is being produced by <a href=\"https:\/\/www.imdb.com\/name\/nm0326040\/\">Akiva Goldsman<\/a> of Weed Road Pictures along with Joby Harold and Tory Tunnell of Safehouse Pictures. Overseeing things will be Greg Lessabs abd Rachel Wizenberg for Weed Road and Matt Schwartz for Safehouse.<br \/><br \/>Zazove and Turner are also involved in the development of <em><strong>Officer Exchange<\/strong><\/em>, an action comedy by Amazon MGM Studios. They\u2019d previously worked on <em><strong>The Out-Laws<\/strong><\/em>, another action comedy starring Adam Devine, Pierce Brosnan, and Ellen Barkin that debuted at #1 when it was released on Netflix.<\/p>\r\n<p><ins class=\"adsbygoogle\" style=\"display:block\" data-ad-client=\"ca-pub-1774669342741533\" data-ad-slot=\"1211148813\" data-ad-format=\"auto\" data-full-width-responsive=\"true\"><\/ins>\u00a0<br \/><br \/><em><strong>Space Invaders<\/strong><\/em> is following the trend of classic arcade games being adapted for the big screen, joining such recent successes as <em><strong>The Super Mario Bros. Movie<\/strong><\/em> (a billion-dollar winner), <em><strong>Sonic the Hedgehog<\/strong><\/em>, and <em><strong>Uncharted<\/strong><\/em>. It\u2019s now been more than a decade since Warner Bros secured the rights to develop the game. At one point, screenwriters Greg Russo and Dan Kunka were attached to the project, but nothing was ever made.<br \/><br \/>As Chris Agar wrote in <a href=\"https:\/\/comicbook.com\/movies\/news\/space-invaders-movie-update-writers-script-details\/\">comicbook.com<\/a>: &#8220;The trick, of course, will be finding a way to make <em><strong>Space Invaders<\/strong><\/em> stand out so it doesn\u2019t come across as an <em><strong>Independence Day<\/strong> <\/em>clone.
