In April of 2024, Tarantino abandoned the project, which was scheduled to shoot earlier this year.\u00a0 Ir would have been his tenth&#8211;and purportedly final&#8211;directorial effort.<br \/><br \/>In a recent appearance on <a href=\"https:\/\/podcasts.apple.com\/us\/podcast\/the-tarantino-interview\/id1602831097?i=1000722039305\"><em>The Church of Tarantino<\/em><\/a> podcast, the filmmaker revealed that he originally wanted <em><strong>T<\/strong><strong>he Movie Critic<\/strong><\/em> to be an eight-episode television show.<\/p>\r\n<p>\u201cAnd it just kind of unenthused me as we went forward,&#8221; he declared, :until I finally just pulled the plug. This last movie, I\u2019ve got to not know what I\u2019m doing again. I\u2019ve got to be in uncharted territory and have an idea how I\u2019m going to pull it off, but not really know. And there has to be something to achieve.\u201d<\/p>\r\n<p>Tarantino said <em><strong>The Movie Critic<\/strong><\/em> was set in 1977 California, \u201cbased on a guy who really lived but was never really famous, and he used to write movie reviews for a porno rag.\u201d<br \/>Speaking further about his decision to abandon the project, he explained: \u201cEvery Tarantino title promises so much, except <em><strong>The Movie Critic.<\/strong><\/em> Who wants to see a TV show about a fucking movie critic? Who wants to see a movie called <em><strong>The Movie Critic<\/strong><\/em>? If I can actually make a movie or a TV show about somebody who watches movies interesting, that is an accomplishment.\u201d<br \/><br \/>Tarantino then rewrote it as a movie script, while squelching rumors that he was considering including the character of Cliff Booth (played by Brad Pitt in <em><strong>Once Upon a Time in Hollywood<\/strong><\/em>).<br \/><br \/>\u201cThat was never the case, ever ever ever,\u201d Tarantino emphasized.<\/p>\r\n<p>However, Tarantino did write a script for Netflix entitled <a href=\"https:\/\/www.imdb.com\/title\/tt36408401\/\"><em><strong>The Adventures of Cliff Booth<\/strong><\/em><\/a>, which he is producing.
