There are some filmmakers who really need no introduction, and when it comes to Ron Howard, his long career in film and television speaks for itself. Howard began his career in the \u201850s as a child actor before he eventually ventured into filmmaking, eventually winning an Oscar for the 2021 drama, <\/span>A Beautiful Mind<\/i><\/b>, and he has directed no less than 20 feature-length films, both narrative and docs since then.<\/span><\/p>\n

Howard\u2019s new movie,<\/span> Eden<\/i><\/b>, continues a run of movies based on true stories, this one about a group of disparate people who gather on the remote island of Floreana in the Galapagos to escape from German ahead of the rise of Hitler in the \u201830s. Beginning the journey there is Jude Law\u2019s Dr. Friedrich Ritter, a philosopher and botanist, who wants to start a new life with his partner Dora (Vanessa Kirby). They\u2019re soon joined by Heinz Wittmer (Daniel Br\u00fchl), his pregnant wife Margret (Sydney Sweeney), and their son, who believe in Ritter\u2019s ideology. Things start to go awry when they\u2019re joined by Ana De Arma\u2019s \u201cThe Baroness\u201d and her entourage, who want to build a luxury hotel on Floreana. Obviously, Dr. Ritter doesn\u2019t approve, and it soon leads to a conflict between various factions as the newcomers are not beyond stealing supplies from their island mates.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

<\/ins><\/span><\/p>\n

Eden<\/span><\/i> is quite a different movie for Howard, which is no surprise considering the different genres of \u201ctrue stories\u201d he\u2019s explored over the past few decades, but the cast he\u2019s assembled for this one is undeniable.<\/span><\/p>\n

Cinema Daily US<\/span><\/i> spoke with Mr. Howard recently, a rather brief interview that you can watch in the video player above. He spoke about the diversity of his filmography and where <\/span>Eden<\/span><\/i> fits in, as well as his planned modern-day firefighting movie, starring Glenn Powell, but is not meant as a sequel to Howard\u2019s 1991 hit, <\/span>Backdraft<\/i><\/b>.<\/span><\/p>\n
