Discovery<\/a> will be reviving the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.imdb.com\/title\/tt0087363\/\"><em><strong>Gremlins<\/strong> <\/em><\/a>franchise with<a href=\"https:\/\/www.imdb.com\/title\/tt2918116\/\"><em> <strong>Gremlins 3<\/strong><\/em><\/a>, a new sequel scheduled for theatrical release on November 19, 1927, according to David Zaslav, the studio&#8217;s CEO and president.<\/p>\r\n<p>Zaslav told investors this week that <a href=\"https:\/\/www.imdb.com\/name\/nm0000229\/\">Steven Spielberg<\/a> will be returning as executive producer of the upcoming production, which will be directed and produced by <a href=\"https:\/\/www.imdb.com\/name\/nm0001060\/?ref_=fn_t_1\">Chris Columbus<\/a> of <em><strong>Harry Potter<\/strong><\/em> fame. The screenplay will be written by Zach Lipovsky and Adam Stein.<br \/><br \/>Columbus wrote the original screenplay for <em><strong>Gremlins<\/strong><\/em>, a horror-comedy that made its debut in 1984, directed by Joe Dante. It told the story of a young boy named Billy who receives a Mogwai as a pet, only to have the cute, furry creature wreak havoc during the Christmas season when the boy fails to follow instructions about caring for the animal. The film was a financial success that earned $212 million at the global box office. Its 1990 Sequel, <em><strong>Gremlins 2<\/strong><\/em>, took in a more modest $41 million but remains a cult classic.<br \/><br \/>On the heels of Zaslav&#8217;s announcement, Jesse Ehrman, the president of development and production at Warner Bros., declared that \u201cFew titles are as beloved and iconic as \u2018<em><strong>Gremlins<\/strong><\/em>,\u2019 and we\u2019re beyond excited to bring it back for both lifelong fans and a whole new generation. It\u2019s a privilege to be working alongside Steven [Spielberg], Chris [Columbus], and the entire creative team, and we look forward to audiences experiencing the next installment of the magic, mayhem, and heart of <em><strong>Gremlins<\/strong> <\/em>on the big screen in 2027.\u201d<\/p>\r\n<p><ins class=\"adsbygoogle\" style=\"display:block\" data-ad-client=\"ca-pub-1774669342741533\" data-ad-slot=\"1211148813\" data-ad-format=\"auto\" data-full-width-responsive=\"true\"><\/ins>\u00a0<br \/><br \/>In his call to investors this week, Zaslav boasted that \u201cWe\u2019re leading the 2025 box office domestically. We\u2019re leading it internationally, and we\u2019re leading it globally. Not only are we in first place, but we\u2019re the only film studio to have crossed $4 billion in 2025 box office revenue thus far, and we\u2019ve done it with a significant amount of original stories &#8230;\u201d<br \/><br \/>To drive home his point, Zaslav cited other offerings, including <em><strong>Minecraft<\/strong><\/em>, <em><strong>Superman<\/strong><\/em>, and Brad Pitt\u2019s <em><strong>F1: The Movie<\/strong><\/em>, the latter of which Warner Bros. distributed for Apple, as well as <em><strong>Sinners<\/strong><\/em>, <em><strong>Weapons<\/strong><\/em>, and <em><strong>Conjuring<\/strong><\/em>.<br \/><br \/>\u201cIn Q3 alone, we successfully launched a new era for the DC studios with \u2018<em><strong>Superman,<\/strong><\/em>\u2019 chortled Zaslav. &#8220;We showed our exceptional horror genre expertise yet again with \u2018<em><strong>Weapons<\/strong><\/em>\u2019 and \u2018<em><strong>The Conjuring: Last Rites<\/strong><\/em>,\u2019 which have together grossed more than $750 million in ticket sales.
