According to <a href=\"https:\/\/deadline.com\/2026\/02\/colman-domingo-nat-king-cole-biopic-unforgettable-details-1236711262\/\">Deadline<\/a>, Domingo will also be directing and producing the film for Lionsgate. Domingo had also co-written the script for the stage play <em>Lights Out: Nat \u2018King\u2019 Cole<\/em> with Patricia McGregor, which had its premiere at the Geffen Playhouse.<\/p>\r\n<p>The 56-year-old Philadelphia-born performer had earlier starred in<a href=\"https:\/\/www.imdb.com\/title\/tt28479262\/\"><em><strong> Sing Sing<\/strong><\/em><\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.imdb.com\/title\/tt14160834\/\"><em><strong>Rustin<\/strong><\/em><\/a>. He also appeared on Broadway in <em>Well<\/em>, <em>Passing Strange<\/em>, and <em>Chicago<\/em>, earning Tony Award nominations for his performances in <em>The Scottsboro Boys<\/em>. Other of his film credits include <em><strong>Zola<\/strong><\/em>,<em><strong> Ma Rainey&#8217;s Black Bottom<\/strong><\/em>, and <em><strong>The Color Purple<\/strong><\/em>.\u00a0<br \/><br \/><em><strong>Unforgettable<\/strong> <\/em>will focus on Nat King Cole\u2019s career as a pioneering musician fighting racism in the entertainment industry. Nathaniel Adams Cole (1919-1965), familiarly known to audiences as Nat King Cole, distinguished himself as a singer, jazz pianist, and actor whose theme song \u201cUnforgettable\u201d inspired a whole generation of listeners. Cole\u2019s album, <em>The Magic of Christmas<\/em>, became a beloved best-seller after its release in 1960. He also achieved notoriety for boycotting segregated venues and participating in Martin Luther King\u2019s 1963 March on Washington.<em>The Nat King Cole Show<\/em>, his variety show broadcast on NBC, became the first nationally televised show hosted by a Black American.<\/p>\r\n<p><ins class=\"adsbygoogle\" style=\"display:block\" data-ad-client=\"ca-pub-1774669342741533\" data-ad-slot=\"1211148813\" data-ad-format=\"auto\" data-full-width-responsive=\"true\"><\/ins>\u00a0<br \/><br \/>Other upcoming projects by Domingo include appearances in Steven Spielberg\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.imdb.com\/title\/tt15047880\/\"><em><strong>Disclosure Day<\/strong><\/em><\/a> and in the next season of HBO\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.imdb.com\/title\/tt8772296\/\"><strong><em>Euphoria<\/em><\/strong><\/a>. Domingo will also play the role of Joe Jackson in <em><strong>Michael<\/strong><\/em>, Lionsgate\u2019s biopic about the Jackson Five family.<br \/><br \/>Reportedly, Domingo will begin shooting <em><strong>Unforgettable<\/strong> <\/em>sometime later this year.
