All Rights Reserved.<\/p>\r\n<p>In an interview with <a href=\"https:\/\/www.etonline.com\/media\/videos\/jerry-bruckheimer-gives-update-on-potential-margot-robbie-led-pirates-of-the-caribbean\"><em>Entertainment Tonight<\/em><\/a>, producer <a href=\"https:\/\/www.imdb.com\/name\/nm0000988\/\">Jerry Bruckheimer<\/a> offered an update on the status of two upcoming films in the<em><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.imdb.com\/list\/ls023657263\/\">\u00a0Pirates of the Caribbean<\/a> <\/strong><\/em>and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.imdb.com\/title\/tt0092099\"><em><strong>T<\/strong><strong><em>op<\/em> Gun <\/strong><\/em><\/a>franchises<em>.<\/em>\u00a0Both films have been in development for some time.<br \/><br \/>Bruckheimer was quoted as saying, \u201cI think it\u2019s a horse race between the two of them, so we\u2019ll see. Right now, <em><strong>Top Gun<\/strong><\/em> is a hair ahead, but that\u2019s it. We\u2019re expecting a script shortly [for T<strong><em>op Gun 3<\/em><\/strong>].\u201d He also confirmed that he&#8217;s had a discussion with <a href=\"https:\/\/www.imdb.com\/name\/nm3053338\/\">Margot Robbie<\/a> about her participation in the <em><strong>Pirates<\/strong> <\/em>film. Robbie had originally hoped to star in a spinoff, but that never materialized.<br \/><br \/>Bruckheimer also said that he expected johnny Depp would once again play the role of Jack Sparrow in a reboot &#8220;if it\u2019s written well.&#8221; Two years ago, Bruckheimer had also confirmed that Jeff Nathanson was working on a reboot of the <em><strong>Pirates<\/strong> <\/em>franchise after writing <em><strong>Dead Men Tell No Tales<\/strong><\/em>, the fifth installment in the series, which was released in 2017<br \/><br \/>Meanwhile, Tom Cruise recently said he\u2019s \u201cworking on\u201d a follow-up to <em><strong>Top Gun: Maverick<\/strong><\/em> (2022), as well as a sequel to his 1990 NASCAR drama <em><strong>Days of Thunder<\/strong><\/em>.<\/p>\r\n<p><ins class=\"adsbygoogle\" style=\"display:block\" data-ad-client=\"ca-pub-1774669342741533\" data-ad-slot=\"1211148813\" data-ad-format=\"auto\" data-full-width-responsive=\"true\"><\/ins>\u00a0<br \/><br \/>In May of 2025, it had been reported that Christopher McQuarrie had agreed to write the script for the new <em><strong>Top Gun<\/strong><\/em> film, but nothing had since been said about that possibility. Two weeks ago, it was announced that Oscar nominee <a href=\"https:\/\/www.imdb.com\/name\/nm4880670\/\">Krysty Willson-Cairns<\/a> was talking with Walt Disney Studios to write the screenplay for the sixth installment in the <em><strong>Pirates<\/strong><\/em> franchise.
