BritBox announced “The Lady<\/strong>“<\/i>\u00a0will premiere on March 18th and released the\u00a0official\u00a0trailer\u00a0and key art.\u00a0The four-part drama series captures the rise and fall of former royal aide Jane Andrews, and stars\u00a0Mia McKenna-Bruce<\/b>\u00a0(\u201cSeven Dials\u201d<\/i><\/b>, \u201c<\/i>How to Have Sex<\/i><\/b>\u201c<\/i>) as Andrews,\u00a0Natalie Dormer\u00a0<\/b>(\u201cGame of Thrones<\/i><\/b>\u201c<\/i>) as Sarah Ferguson, the Duchess of York and\u00a0Ed Speleers\u00a0<\/b>(\u201cYou<\/i><\/b>\u201c<\/i>, \u201cDownton Abbey<\/i><\/b>\u201c<\/i>) as Thomas Cressman.<\/p>\n

\u201c<\/i>The Lady<\/i><\/b>\u201c<\/i>\u00a0<\/i><\/b>charts the rise and fall of former royal dresser Jane Andrews, whose rags to riches fairy tale fell apart when she was convicted of murder. Once a young working-class girl from a northern town, Jane answered an advertisement in a magazine and to the astonishment of her friends and family, became the Duchess of York\u2019s dresser at Buckingham Palace.<\/p>\n

Moving amongst the highest social circles in Britain, Jane managed to secure a place in the upper-classes, only to lose her job with the Duchess after nine years of service. Still reeling from her fall from grace, Jane went on to meet charismatic businessman Thomas Cressman and fell deeply in love. Soon cracks began to develop in the romance Jane had pinned all her hopes on, with disastrous consequences.<\/p>\n

The cast also includes\u00a0Philip Glenister (\u201cCranford<\/i><\/b>\u201c<\/i>), Claire Skinner (\u201cBridget Jones\u2019s Diary<\/i><\/b>\u201c<\/i>), Laura Aikman (\u201cThis City Is Ours<\/i><\/b>\u201c<\/i>), Ophelia Lovibond (\u201cGuardians of the Galaxy<\/i><\/b>\u201c<\/i>),\u00a0Mark Stanley\u00a0(\u201c<\/i>A Cruel Love: The Ruth Ellis Story<\/i><\/b>\u201c<\/i>, \u201cAdolescence<\/i><\/b>\u201c<\/i>), Daniel Ryan (\u201cPassenger<\/i><\/b>\u201c<\/i>) and\u00a0Sean Teale\u00a0<\/b>(\u201cDoctor Odyssey<\/i><\/b>\u201c<\/i>).<\/p>\n<\/ins>\n

Based upon true events surrounding Andrews\u2019 story, the partly fictionalized drama is produced by multi award-winning independent production company, Left Bank Pictures, a Sony Pictures Television Company, producers of the acclaimed series, \u201cThe Crown<\/i><\/b>\u201c.<\/i><\/i><\/p>\n

\u201c<\/i>The Lady\u201d<\/i><\/b>\u00a0has been commissioned for BritBox by Jess O\u2019Riordan and for ITV by Polly Hill. Jess O\u2019Riordan and Stephen Nye oversaw production on behalf of BritBox, with Polly Hill overseeing on behalf of ITV.<\/p>\n

Debbie O\u2019Malley (\u201cPayback<\/i><\/b>\u201c, \u201c<\/i>Humans, Harlots<\/i><\/b>\u201c<\/i>) wrote all four scripts for \u201cThe Lady<\/i><\/b>\u201d\u00a0<\/i>and serves as executive producer on the series. Executive producers on behalf of BritBox are Robert Schildhouse, Jess O\u2019Riordan and Stephen Nye; Polly Hill for ITV; and Executive Producers for Left Bank Pictures are Creative Director Sian McWilliams, CEO Andy Harries and Rebecca Hodgson, with Florence Haddon-Cave (\u201cEverything Now Quiz<\/i><\/b>\u201c, \u201c<\/i>The Crown<\/i><\/b>\u201c)\u00a0<\/i>as producer.
