Although another adaptation ran for a single season on Spike TV in 2017, neither of the two films was popular among viewers.<\/p>\r\n<p>Flanagan will write and direct the upcoming film for Warner Bros. He explained his motivation for tackling the project; \u201cIf there wasn\u2019t an excellent answer to \u2018why\u2019, I wouldn\u2019t do it. I love Darabont\u2019s film, and there\u2019s zero point in remaking it. Which is why I\u2019m going in a different direction. I learned a long ago never to try to predict what the fans will or won\u2019t argue about\u2026 but yeah, this isn\u2019t a retread. The differences start page 1.&#8221;<\/p>\r\n<ins class=\"adsbygoogle\" style=\"display:block\" data-ad-client=\"ca-pub-1774669342741533\" data-ad-slot=\"1211148813\" data-ad-format=\"auto\" data-full-width-responsive=\"true\"><\/ins>\r\n<p>Like many of King&#8217;s works, The Mist is set in a Maine town, which has been engulfed by a mysterious fog from which deadly creatures emerge. Survivors take refuge in a local grocery store, where one of them&#8211;a religious fanatic&#8211;plays on their fears by inciting anxiety and paranoia.<\/p>\r\n<p>As a youngster, Flanagan lived briefly in Salem, Massachusetts, which helped spark his interest in the horror genre. The filmmaker has directed other adaptations of King&#8217;s works, including <strong>Gerald&#8217;s Game<\/strong>, <strong>The Shining<\/strong> sequel,<em><strong> Doctor Sleep<\/strong><\/em>, and<em><strong> Life of Chuck<\/strong><\/em>. Flanagan added that he was also faced with similar \u2018but why\u201d questions in making other works, including <em><strong>The Haunting of Hill House<\/strong><\/em>, <em><strong>The Haunting of Bly Manor<\/strong><\/em>, <strong>Fall of the House of Usher,<\/strong> and<em><strong> Ouija: Origin of Evil<\/strong><\/em>.
