At Star Wars Celebration in London two years ago, Kathleen Kennedy, former Lucasfilm President, announced that three new Star Wars films are being developed.<\/p>\n

Nearly two years on, none of them seem to have made much in the way of progress, even though two films,\u00a0 “The Mandalorian and Grogu<\/strong><\/a>” and “Star Wars: Starfighter<\/strong><\/a>” \u2013 did make it into production and have release dates locked.<\/p>\n

One would be Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy<\/a>\u2019s previously announced \u201cNew Jedi Order<\/strong>\u201d film with Daisy Ridley\u2019s Rey, the other one would be Dave Filoni<\/a>\u2019s film to bring together the various Mando-verse shows, and the last one would be James Mangold<\/a>\u2019s \u201cDawn of the Jedi<\/strong>\u201d set 25,000 years in the past.<\/p>\n

Filoni\u2019s film has been parked as he turned his efforts to a second season of \u201cAhsoka\u201d and, more recently, his new position at Lucasfilm. Obaid-Chinoy\u2019s film has undergone multiple re-writes though at last report was still in active development.<\/p>\n<\/ins>\n

According to The Hot Mic, insider, Jeff Sinder said, “The issue of Mangold’s film remained unresolved until Kennedy announced early this year that Mangold and co-writer Beau Willimon had produced an ‘incredible script’ that was ‘definitely breaking the mold’.\u00a0 <\/span>However, she also admitted it was \u201creally on the back burner\u201d and that \u201canything\u2019s a possibility if somebody\u2019s willing to take a risk\u201d.<\/p>\n

\u00a0I think Mangold is focused on that Timoth\u00e9e Chalamet heist movie is what I think. I think Swamp Thing could be after that.\u201d It follows on from talk on social media earlier this week that suggested Filoni was considering scuttling the project.<\/p>\n

Further updates on the fate of \u201cStar Wars<\/strong>\u201d projects will likely come soon when press rounds begin for \u201cThe Mandalorian and Grogu<\/strong>\u201d opening in May.<\/p>\n<\/ins>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
