Exploring legacy, identity and moral decay through a fractured hero seeking purpose is often an enthralling experience. These themes are central to Spider-Noir<\/strong><\/em>, a new superhero television series that’s shaped into a standalone interpretation of the Marvel mythos as a crime drama.<\/p>\n

The upcoming show leans heavily into noir sensibilities, where memory is unreliable, justice is blurred and every choice carries consequence. The action series<\/a> reimaginines familiar threads from the S<\/em><\/strong>pider-Man<\/em><\/strong> Noir<\/em><\/strong> comics and selectively echoing elements of the broader Spider-Verse<\/strong><\/em>. The franchise’s latest instalment repositions its protagonist not as an extension of a shared cinematic universe, but as a solitary figure defined by grief, survival and reinvention.<\/p>\n

Oren Uziel created, and served as an executive producer and co-showrunner, alongside Steve Lightfoot, on the drama<\/a>. Spider-Noir<\/i><\/strong> stars Nicolas Cage as the protagonist, Ben Reilly<\/span>. as well as Lamorne Morris, Li Jun Li, Karen Rodriguez, Abraham Popoola, Jack Huston and Brendan Gleeson.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

Spider-Noir<\/i><\/strong>\u00a0is a live-action series based on the Marvel comic\u00a0Spider-Man Noir<\/strong><\/i>. Cage’s roles in Spider-Verse<\/em><\/strong> and Spider-Noir<\/strong><\/em> are both inspired by the comics.<\/p>\n

On the upcoming television show, however, Ben Reilly has a different origin and storyline. He’s a unique iteration of the character who appeared in Into the Spider-Verse<\/em><\/strong>.\u00a0<\/em>Spider-Noir<\/em><\/strong> exists in a stand-alone universe and doesn’t directly connect to or continue any Sony or Marvel films.<\/p>\n

Spider-Noir<\/strong><\/em> is also unique in the fact that for the first time ever, viewers can choose their own Spider-Man<\/strong><\/i> adventure. The series will be available to stream in two different visual styles, “Authentic Black & White” and “True-Hue Full Color.”<\/p>\n

In\u00a0Spider-Noir<\/i><\/strong>, Ben Reilly is a seasoned, down on his luck private investigator in 1930s New York. He grapples with his past life, following a deeply personal tragedy, as the city’s one and only superhero.<\/p>\n

Sony Pictures Television produced Spider-Noir<\/strong><\/em> exclusively for MGM+ and Prime Video. The drama will debut domestically on MGM+’s linear broadcast channel on May 25. The show will then premiere globally on Prime Video on May 27. The series’ eight episodes will be available as a binge release.<\/p>\n

To help promote the premiere of Spider-Noir<\/strong><\/em>, Li, Huston and Popoola generously took the time recently to participate in an exclusive interview over Zoom. Among other things, the actress and actors discussed why they were all inspired to star on the drama. They also spoke about how they collaborated with not only each other as co-stars, but also with Uziel as the project’s creator, co-showrunner and an executive producer.<\/p>\n<\/ins>\n
