Netflix unveiled the trailer for “In the Hand of Dante<\/strong>“, giving viewers a preview of Julian Schnabel’s star-laden historical crime epic.<\/p>\n The movie, Schnabel\u2019s latest film since 2018\u2019s Oscar-nominated portrait of Vincent Van Gogh, “At Eternity\u2019s Gate,” is an adaptation of Nick Tosches\u2019 2002 novel. Isaac plays dual roles: New York author Tosches in the 21st century and Dante Alighieri in the 14th century.<\/p>\n The picture, featuring a stellar cast that includes Oscar Isaac, Gal Gadot, Gerard Butler, John Malkovich, Louis Cancelmi, Sabrina Impacciatore, Franco Nero, Benjamin Clementine, Paolo Bonacelli, Martin Scorsese, Al Pacino, and Jason Momoa. Its world premiere took place last year at the Venice Film Festival, where Schnabel was honored with the Cartier Glory to the Filmmaker Award for his contributions to cinema.<\/p>\n<\/ins>\n Here’s what the synopsis said, “In the Hand of Dante follows the parallel lives of a New York author (Nick Tosches) in the 21st century who embarks on a violent journey after he is recruited by a mafia don to steal Italian poet Dante Alighieri’s The Divine Comedy written in the poet\u2019s own hand, and Dante in the 14th century seeking inspiration to write his most important work \u2013 each man unknowingly connected through time and their obsessive quest for love, beauty, and the divine.”<\/p>\n Julian Schnabel recently received an honor at the Texas Film Awards, which honors filmmakers and talent associated with the Lone Star State.
