Following its $118 million opening weekend against a modest $10 million budget, it comes as no surprise that a sequel to the movie that topped the box office this past weekend, “Backrooms<\/strong>,” is already underway.<\/p>\n

Deadline reports that director Kane Parsons is currently searching for a screenwriter to collaborate on the sequel. They have added no star attachments, and no green lights have been handed out yet.<\/p>\n

Moreover, during the film’s press tour, Parsons explicitly expressed his wish to expand the franchise into additional projects and hinted that he is far from finishing with the IP, as evidenced by a likely existing contract for further endeavors.<\/p>\n<\/ins>\n

Speaking with Variety<\/a>, Parsons says: \u201cWithout a doubt, “Backrooms<\/strong>” has always been planned to be more of a series that goes outside the confines of this film\u2026 For people who are into it, I\u2019ve got a contract, and I got a hold at my end, and that means I am definitely not done with “Backrooms<\/strong>.” I\u2019ve got very specific things that I\u2019m working on, things are in the works right now that I am eager to be able to talk about, but, currently, it\u2019s still in a secret mystery world.\u201d<\/p>\n

The movie is anticipated to perform well this coming weekend, competing with both Friday’s newcomers: “Masters of the Universe<\/strong>“, projected to debut with $30 million, and “Scary Movie<\/strong>“, forecasted to start with $40 million.<\/p>\n
