Michael Sarnoski, the filmmaker, states that his planned “Death Stranding<\/strong>” film adaptation, based on legendary game designer Hideo Kojima’s work, will not be as graphic or dark as the recently released “The Death of Robin Hood<\/strong>“.<\/p>\n

The project is described as a standalone story separate from the games but set in the same world. Kojima has previously said the aim is to \u201ccapture the soul of the game, the themes of the game, but tell a story that you haven\u2019t seen in that world, And<\/b>\u00a0explore characters that you haven\u2019t seen before, and find all of that scope.\u201d<\/p>\n

Earlier this week, 31-year-old Sarnoski, the “Pig<\/strong>” filmmaker, informed Variety he had submitted a second script draft and is planning to shoot the film in Iceland and Northern Ireland next year.<\/p>\n<\/ins>\n

Speaking with\u00a0GamesRadar<\/a>, he explained how the action featured in the game adaptation differs considerably from his Hugh Jackman-led bloody period piece, which has garnered attention for its brutality:<\/p>\n

\u201cI wouldn\u2019t say the script is very violent. There\u2019s definitely a lot of, like, action and excitement to it. There\u2019s some violence to it. I mean, Death Stranding is a brutal world\u2026and it\u2019s a world also where it feels like death is just around the corner.<\/i><\/p>\n

So there needs to be that sort of visceral sense of, \u2018oh, this could be it.\u2019 It\u2019s <\/i>[a<\/i>] sort of bleak and barren post-apocalyptic environment. So there is violence and action to it, but the role of violence is very different from this one. <\/i>[The Death of Robin Hood<\/i>]<\/strong> is a movie that kind of questions violence.<\/i><\/p>\n

In “Death Stranding<\/strong>,” the sort of violence and action is about exploration and about understanding the world more deeply. So there will be some, but you\u2019re not gonna see a lot of jaws getting ripped off in “Death Stranding<\/strong>.\u201d<\/i><\/p>\n

Both the games and film of \u201cDeath Stranding<\/strong>\u201d unfold in a world after a cataclysmic event has caused destructive creatures to begin roaming the Earth. The narrative centers on a courier assigned with transporting materials to distant settlements and using a wireless network to re-establish communication links. The games boasted an all-star cast including Mads Mikkelsen, L\u00e9a Seydoux, Margaret Qualley, Elle Fanning, Troy Baker, Luca Marinelli, Tommie Earl Jenkins, and Lindsay Wagner along with filmmakers like George Miller, Faith Akin, Guillermo del Toro and Nicolas Winding Refn in supporting roles.<\/p>\n<\/ins>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
