Known for challenging conventional narratives about identity, immigration and the Asian-American experience, Huang has spent the intervening years expanding his storytelling across literature, film and television. Now, he brings that perspective back to Huang’s World, joined by his wife and co-host, producer Natashia Huang.

Premiering Tuesday, November 10, 2026, exclusively on Complex’s Family Style YouTube channel, the 12-episode fifth season brings Huang back to New York City for a more intimate, cinematic exploration of the restaurant community that helped shape his career. Together, Eddie and Natashia examine the chefs and restaurateurs behind some of the city’s most compelling dining institutions, exploring their restaurants as expressions of personal history, cultural identity and creative vision.

“When I started Huang’s World, I was trying to understand the world through food and the people making it. Coming back to New York now, I’m looking at these restaurants differently — as expressions of the people who built them, what they believe in and what they’re willing to risk. I’ve changed, too, and that’s part of the story.” — Eddie Huang

SERIES SYNOPSIS
When Huang’s World first debuted on VICE’s MUNCHIES in 2012, Eddie Huang challenged the conventions of food and travel television, using restaurants and the people behind them to explore identity, immigration, race, belonging and the cultural forces shaping communities around the world. The series expanded to VICELAND in 2016, establishing Huang as one of food and culture’s most distinctive voices. In the years since, Huang has expanded his storytelling across literature, film and television, bringing his uncompromising perspective to projects including Fresh Off the Boat, Boogie and Vice Is Broke. Now, eight years after the original series last aired, he returns to the format that first brought his perspective on food and culture to television audiences, approaching New York’s restaurant scene through the lens of a filmmaker and cultural storyteller.

Returning for a 12-episode fifth season on Complex’s Family Style, Huang’s World brings that perspective home to New York City, with a new creative approach shaped by Eddie’s evolution as a filmmaker and his partnership with his wife and co-host, Natashia Huang. Presented in a new, approximately 12-minute episodic format, the series explores the chef as auteur, examining how New York’s most compelling restaurants reflect the creative vision, cultural identity and personal philosophies of the people behind them. Through candid conversations, behind-the-scenes access and the couple’s characteristic irreverence, Eddie and Natashia take viewers inside the kitchens and communities shaping the city’s culinary landscape.

More than a return to food television, Season 5 represents a continuation of the cultural conversations that have defined Huang’s career. From challenging traditional narratives about Asian-American identity through Fresh Off the Boat to exploring representation and belonging through his filmmaking, Huang has consistently used storytelling to examine who gets to shape culture and whose perspectives are represented. Returning to the city where his career began, he turns his attention to the culinary visionaries redefining New York’s dining landscape, exploring how their restaurants become expressions of identity, ambition and creative independence. The result is a series that reflects both the evolution of the city’s restaurant culture and Huang’s own changing relationship with New York, his work and his cultural legacy.

The first six episodes take viewers inside The Russian Tea Room, Altro Paradiso, Kisa, Ha’s Bistro, Bar Chimera and Cote 550, and Baohaus, bringing together some of the city’s most compelling culinary personalities and cultural figures.

<ins class="adsbygoogle" style="display:block" data-ad-client="ca-pub-1774669342741533" data-ad-slot="1211148813" data-ad-format="auto" data-full-width-responsive="true"></ins>

At The Russian Tea Room, Eddie and Natashia explore the legacy of the storied New York institution with Isabella Biberaj, whose family continues to steward the restaurant. The episode opens with Natashia being styled by Jian DeLeon, Men’s Fashion Director at Nordstrom, before the couple joins celebrity jeweler Greg Yuna and comedian and actress Esther Povitsky for champagne, caviar and an irreverent double date, with conversations spanning marriage, relationships and parenthood. At Altro Paradiso, chef de cuisine Ezequiel Unger reflects on reinvention and the challenge of preserving a restaurant’s identity. At Kisa, president David JoonWoo Yun and chef Simon Lee introduce the traditions of Korea’s taxi-driver restaurants to Manhattan’s Lower East Side, while restaurateur Simon Kim offers a look at the creative ambition behind Bar Chimera and Cote 550.

The season’s guest appearances also include acclaimed chef Daniel Humm, known for Eleven Madison Park and his West Village restaurant HUMM; DJ and downtown New York cultural fixture Vashtie Kola; actress Highdee Kuan; and comedian and media personality Kareem Rahma. Together, the guests reflect the intersection of food, fashion, entertainment and New York’s creative community that has long defined Huang’s perspective.

The second half of Season 5, beginning January 12, 2027, expands that exploration with an eclectic lineup of restaurants and cultural personalities. Planned appearances include writer Hunter Harris at Rolo’s; fashion designers Maxwell Osborne and Dao-Yi at Eel Bar; James Harris at Borgo; designer Kim Shui and Cory Ng at Phoenix Palace; musician and performance artist Marc Rebillet at Schmuck; and comedian Kam Patterson at Strange Delight. Together, these conversations offer a portrait of the creative relationships and communities shaping contemporary New York, extending the series beyond the kitchen into the worlds of fashion, music, comedy and culture.

In one of the season’s most personal episodes, Eddie returns to Baohaus, the Taiwanese-Chinese restaurant he founded in 2009. In a reversal of their usual dynamic, Natashia interviews Eddie about the restaurant’s origins, his relationship with Taiwanese-American identity and the unexpected responsibilities of becoming a representative voice for Asian Americans. Through an intimate conversation about ambition, belonging and cultural influence, Eddie reflects on the restaurant’s legacy and his own evolution from outsider to influential cultural figure. The episode combines these personal revelations with behind-the-scenes kitchen access and the series’ signature irreverence, including a satirical parody of Dave Portnoy’s One Bite reviews performed by comedian Liam Dalton.

Throughout the season, Eddie and Natashia’s relationship becomes an integral part of the storytelling. Drawing on their shared experiences as creative partners, husband and wife, and parents, they bring distinct perspectives to conversations about food, culture, family and identity. Eddie’s candid, instinctive approach is complemented by Natashia’s curiosity, emotional insight and willingness to challenge him, creating a more intimate evolution of the original series.

“What interests me most is what happens when you get past the food and hear the stories behind it. Eddie and I approach people differently, and that creates conversations neither of us would have on our own. We wanted the series to feel like you’re right there with us — curious, candid and sometimes a little chaotic.” — Natashia Huang

The first six episodes premiere weekly beginning Tuesday, November 10, 2026, with six additional weekly episodes beginning January 12, 2027.

Ahead of the Season 5 premiere, Complex’s Family Style has begun rolling out archival episodes of Huang’s World, reintroducing audiences to the original series that helped establish Eddie Huang as a distinctive voice in food and culture.
