The Good Place\u00a0<\/i><\/b>and\u00a0Parks and Recreation\u00a0<\/i><\/b>writer-producer Michael Schur is working on a streaming series based on the beloved 1989 baseball film, Field of Dreams<\/i>.\u00a0<\/b>The show will stream on Peacock, the NBCUniversal service where the original movie is now playing.\u00a0<\/b><\/p>\n

“Through the years, Field of Dreams<\/strong> <\/em>has remained a fan favorite, maintaining its rightful position in the zeitgeist,\u201d Lisa Katz — president of NBCUniversal Television and Streaming — said in a statement Monday. “It\u2019s whimsical and grounded, a space where Mike Schur excels, and we\u2019re looking forward to bringing a new version of this classic to Peacock.”<\/span><\/p>\n

“Field of Dreams<\/strong> <\/em>is an iconic Universal Film title from venerable producers Lawrence and Charles Gordon, that we could only have entrusted to Mike Schur,” added Erin Underhill, president of Universal Television. “His talent, his love for baseball and his reverence for its themes make him the perfect choice to revisit this beloved film that evokes nostalgia and visceral emotion in so many of its fans.<\/p>\n

The Field of Dreams<\/strong><\/em> project is part of a pact between Schur and Universal Television where Schur\u2019s Fremulon production company is based, The Hollywood Reporter<\/a> said.\u00a0<\/span>Starring Kevin Costner, Amy Madigan, James Earl Jones and Ray Liotta, the film was based on W.P. Kinsella\u2019s 1982 novel, Shoeless Joe.<\/strong><\/em> It is about a man who inexplicably feels compelled to build a baseball diamond in the middle of his Iowa cornfield and finds it attracting the ghosts of baseball greats from the past.<\/p>\n
