In April, 2020. <\/b>Netflix has announced that it will produce a new Korean original series Hellbound<\/strong>, which will be directed by Yeon Sang-ho who\u2019s best known for his box office hit Train to Busan<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

What is webtoon, “Hell.”\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n

In Hellbound, supernatural beings appear out of nowhere to condemn people to hell. It doesn\u2019t matter whether these events are a blessing or a curse: a new religious group is interpreting them all as the will of the divine. What unfolds through this predicament is an intense and highly-charged story about people who must survive under conditions of utter social chaos. The story was originally published as a webtoon, titled Hell, and has garnered a great deal of attention and acclaim. As a Netflix original series, Hellbound will take on a new form through the collaborative work of director Yeon Sang-ho and illustrator Choi Gyu-seok, the author of Songgot, a webtoon that was adapted as a television drama in 2015.<\/p>\n

Synopsis<\/strong> : Unbelievable demonstrations of hell take place in the middle of Seoul right in front of crowds. Mysterious beings condemn individuals to be hellbound, and otherworldly beings appear exactly at the specified time to kill the condemned in a brutal burning. Rising above the utter chaos resulting from these inexplicable supernatural occurrences is the commanding voice of Jung Jinsu, the leader of an up-and-coming religious organization, The New Truth. He claims that only sinners are marked for condemnation and that these occurrences represent divine will to make humans righteous. A group of his followers with blind faith, the Arrowhead, take into their own hands the punishment of those who go against the divine will. The world becomes a living hell.<\/p>\n

Min Hyejin, a lawyer, challenges Chairman Jung by claiming the demonstrations of hell to be simply supernatural occurrences. She joins forces with the few who try to protect the hellbound and return the world to the realm of humans, not gods. They go up against the chaos instigated by The New Truth.<\/p>\n

Then one day, an infant born two days ago is condemned, making it difficult to believe the divine will that only sinners become Hellbound.<\/p>\n

Release date\u00a0<\/span><\/b><\/p>\n

Thanks to the Netflix TUDUM event, it has been revealed that Hellbound is coming to Netflix Friday, November 19th, 2021<\/b>.<\/p>\n

Hellbound<\/strong> is officially the first Korean drama series to premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival.<\/p>\n

The series will make its South Korean in October when it features in the 26th Busan International Film Festival. Hellbound<\/strong> has also been invited to feature at the 65th BFI London Film Festival as a part of the LFF series thrill section.<\/p>\n
