In an Instagram post<\/a>, actress Karen Fukuhara, who plays Kimiko Miyashiro on The Boys<\/em><\/strong>, shared that she was recently attacked on the street. While she said that she is physically fine, she declared that \u201cthis shit needs to stop. Us women, Asians, the elderly need your help. I rarely share about my private life but something happened today that I thought was important.\u201d She explained that, on her way to a caf\u00e9, a man struck her in the back of the head for no reason.<\/p>\n

She continued by noting her reason for speaking up and sharing this experience. \u201cThis is the first time I\u2019ve been harmed physically, although racial slurs and hurtful actions have been directed to me in the past. I write this, because I\u2019ve had conversations with multi-racial friends of mine that had no idea these hate crimes happen to everyday, regular people \u2014 people that they share meals with. I felt it was important to raise awareness.\u201d<\/p>\n

While expressing gratitude that her assailant didn\u2019t hit her again or have a weapon, she did say that she was considering self-defense classes, asking \u201cBut why is this something we as \u2018victims\u2019 have to think about? What satisfaction are these perpetrators getting from hitting women, Asians, the ELDERLY? They need to be held accountable. What can we do as a community to prevent these horrible crimes?\u201d<\/p>\n

Actress Olivia Munn, who last year shared her own call<\/a> to stop anti-Asian hate crimes, commented on the post that she was grateful Fukuhara was safe. Fellow cast members from The Boys<\/em><\/strong> including Chace Crawford, Jack Quaid, and Laz Alonso expressed their anger that this happened and their solidarity with their costar.
