Toshio Suzuki, the representative director and producer of Studio Ghibli, and photographer Kanyada Platen attended the preview of “Animage and Ghibli Exhibition” held in Tokyo on the 28th. Suzuki was asked if he had any information about Hayao Miyazaki’s latest film, “How do you live?” He said that he won’t disclose any plot points prior to the release date July 24th in 2023, just like the same promotional strategy with Japanese anime film, “THE FIRST SLAM DUNK“, which was not disclosed in any synopsis in advance.
The exhibition was focused on the 1980s from when the magazine Animage was first published, this exhibition explores the role that Animage, the origin of Studio Ghibli, played in the birth and development of many anime works, something to look back on its materials. Studio Ghibli Producer Tomohiko Ishii was also present on this day.
During the Q&A session, Suzuki also talked about the progress of “How Do You Live?“, he said when he was asked if it’s already completed or not, he denied, “It’s not finished yet.”
When asked if there was any specific information about the work, Suzuki said, “I really thought about it. Not having any information will increase the enjoyment of everyone. If you know that first, it will take away your joy. Do you understand?” He smiled and said, “That’s why I will stick to it.” “Even if you watch ‘SLAM DUNK‘, it’s the same, isn’t it? The number of the audience is going up, isn’t it?”
