“The Novice”, a college freshman Alex Dall (Isabelle Fuhrman) is focused heavily on her studies, but she has an itch to be part of the university’s novice rowing team. Once she gets a taste for the rhythm and technique of the sport, Dall is full throttle into bettering herself at rowing. Her obsession seems to take over every facet of her life. Dall will do anything and everything to rise in the ranks of the team, and prove to everyone she can be the best. Bloody and blistered hands, putting others in danger, even endangering the future opportunities of others…it’s all or nothing for this rower.

The film premiered at this year’s Tribeca Film Festival. We had the chance to speak with Isabelle about bringing Alex Dall to life for the first time feature from Writer/Director Lauren Hadaway who herself, was a collegiate rower.
