With its world premiere at the 61st New York Film Festival, Garth Davis’s “FOE” brought a story of complicated relationships to life through a tale of futuristic complications that seem all too realistic to present days.
Saoirse Ronan, Paul Mescal, and Aaron Pierre lead the cast of a script co-written by Davis and the author of the book it is based on; Iain Reid. We had the chance to speak with Davis shortly after seeing the film before its premiere to find out about the process of working with these talented actors, creating a visual flair of the future that is so modern, and building a whole house in the middle of nowhere!
Synopsis : Academy Award nominees Saoirse Ronan and Paul Mescal star in Foe, a haunting exploration of marriage and identity set in an uncertain world. Hen and Junior farm a secluded piece of land that has been in Junior’s family for generations, but their quiet life is thrown into turmoil when an uninvited stranger (Aaron Pierre) shows up at their door with a startling proposal. Based on best-selling author Iain Reid’s novel, directed by Garth Davis, and co-written by Davis and Reid, Foe’s mesmerizing imagery and persistent questions about the nature of humanity (and artificial humanity) bring the not-too-distant future to luminous life.
