Reagan : Exclusive Interview with Actor Dennis Quaid and Actress Penelope Ann Miller

Dennis Quaid is an American actor and the brother of Randy Quaid. He is known for his leading man roles in film and television. The Guardian named Quaid one of the best actors never to have received an Academy Award nomination.

Quaid is known for his starring roles in Breaking Away (1979), The Right Stuff (1983), The Big Easy (1986), Innerspace (1987), Great Balls of Fire! (1989), Dragonheart (1996), The Parent Trap (1998), Frequency (2000), The Rookie (2002), The Day After Tomorrow (2004), In Good Company (2004), Flight of the Phoenix (2004), Yours, Mine & Ours (2005), and Vantage Point (2008).

Quaid received a Golden Globe Award nomination for his role in Far from Heaven (2002). Quaid also acted in The Night the Lights Went Out in Georgia (1981), Jaws 3-D (1983), Come See the Paradise (1990), Any Given Sunday (1999), Traffic (2000), American Dreamz (2006), Footloose (2011), Playing for Keeps (2012), Truth (2015), Midway (2019), Strange World (2022), and The Substance (2024). He portrayed President Bill Clinton in the HBO film The Special Relationship (2010), for which Quaid earned nominations for a Primetime Emmy Award, Golden Globe Award and Screen Actors Guild Award. He also portrayed Deputy US Marshal Sherrill Lynn in the Paramount+ Western series Lawmen: Bass Reeves (2023).

Penelope Ann Miller is an American actress. She began her career on Broadway in the original run of Biloxi Blues (1985–1986), later appearing in the 1988 film adaptation of the same name. After playing small roles in the comedies Adventures in Babysitting (1987) and Big Top Pee-wee (1988), and receiving a Tony Award nomination for her leading role in the Broadway revival of Our Town (1988–1989), Miller came to prominence with a succession of major parts in films such as The FreshmanAwakeningsKindergarten Cop (all 1990), Other People’s Money (1991), Chaplin (1992), The Shadow (1994), and The Relic (1997).

For her portrayal of exotic dancer Gail in Carlito’s Way (1993), she was nominated for the Golden Globe Award for Best Supporting Actress. Other film credits include Along Came a Spider (2001), The Messengers (2007), The Artist (2011), and The Birth of a Nation (2016). On television, Miller starred as Molly Hooper on the Fox sitcom A Minute with Stan Hooper (2003–2004), played recurring roles on Men of a Certain Age (2009–2011) and Mistresses (2013–2014), starred as Eve Carlin on the first season of ABC’s American Crime (2015), and co-starred as Joyce Dahmer in the Netflix series Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story (2022).
