If there’s one thing that anyone who sees JT Mollner’s dark thriller, Strange Darling, it’s that Willa Fitzgerald’s performance as a character merely referred to as “The Lady” is one that is going to turn a lot of heads.
So far, Fitzgerald is best known for her TV work on shows like “Reacher,” “Scream: the TV Series,” and Mike Flanagan’s “The Fall of the House of Usher,” but Mollner has cast her opposite Kyle Gallner (Smile) in a two-hander that goes to so many unexpected places that it’s best going into Strange Darling knowing as little as possible. That said, we can say that the movie involves a one-night stand between the two characters, a violent pursuit that follows, and a presumably semi-true story involving a real-life serial killer.
Cinema Daily US spoke with Ms. Fitzgerald last week for the video interview you can watch above in which she spoke about getting the role and making time to get to know Gallner in order to work together on the film’s more difficult scenes.
