‘The Killer’: Nathalie Emmanuel, Omar Sy on John Woo’s Return to His Action Classic (Video Interview)

Back in 1989, legendary Hong Kong filmmaker John Woo was coming off the back-to-back success of A Better Tomorrow and its sequel when he reteamed with Chow Yun-fat for The Killer, a movie that helped both the Asian superstars to crossover and start making films in the United States.

Cut forward 35 years and Woo has returned to his famed crime action film – not to be confused with the recent David Fincher movie of the same name – this time starring Nathalie Emmanuel from the “Fast and Furious” movies as an assassin known only as Zee, whose latest mission in Paris ends with a young singer being blinded when she’s caught in a shootout, something which Zee regrets. Zee is also being chased by French police officer Cey, played by Omar Sy of Jurassic World and The Intouchables, as he investigates a series of murders.

Unfortunately, this new version of The Killer will only be available to watch streaming on Peacock with no planned U.S. theatrical release, but Cinema Daily US had a chance to speak with Ms. Emmanuel and Omar Sy about working with John Woo in some of his trademark action sequences.
