Director David F. Sandberg and Gary Dauberman first worked together on the 2017 horror prequel, Annabelle: Creation, before Dauberman went off to direct its sequel, Annabelle Comes Home, while Sandberg directed Shazam! and its sequel. Now, they’ve reunited for Until Dawn, a horror movie based on the Sony Playstation game of the same name.
The film stars Ella Rubin as Clover, whose sister Mel (Maia Mitchell) vanished without a trace, so she goes looking for her with her friends (Odessa A’zionxn, Michael Cimino, Ji-young Yoo, Belmont Cameli) only for them to get caught in an endless loop of horror and death where they’re repeatedly attacked and killed.
Cinema Daily US had a chance to speak with Sandberg and Dauberman about their latest collaboration, how it came together, casting the kids as well as bringing on Peter Stormare to reprise his character of Dr. Hill from the game. Dauberman also gave us an update on Last Train to New York, the Train to Busan remake that he had written and was producing for Timo Tjahjanto (Headshot) to direct.
