Broken Lizard Franchise To Release ‘Super Troopers 3’ in 2026

“Super Troopers 3: Winter Soldiers,” the third installment in the Broken Lizard comedy franchise, will make its theatrical debut on August 7, 2026. Returning to direct the upcoming film will be Jay Chandrasekhar, who also helmed Beerfest and Club Dread for the franchise.

The Super Troopers films follow the antics of a team of Vermont state troopers as they engage in feuds with the local police department in the fictional town of Spurbury. In the 2018 sequel, the troopers are seen engaging in a border feud with the Royal Canadian Mounted Police. No plot details have yet been released for the upcoming sequel.

In Winter Soldiers, Andrew Dismukes will be joining Kevin Heffernan, Steve Lemme, Paul Soter, and Brian Cox as one of the troopers. Other cast members include Marisa Coughlan, Nat Faxon, Chace Crawford, Hannah Simone, Iqbal Theba, Sakina Jaffrey, Jon Rudnitsky, and Lisa Gilroy.

 

The first film in the Super Troopers franchise, a cult classic, was released in 2001 after its debut at Sundance, grossing $23 million at the box office. It went on to win the Audience Award at the South by Southwest Film Festival later that year. Super Troopers 2 appeared in 2018.

Director Jay Chandrasekhar was born in Chicago in 1968 to parents of Tamil ancestry from Chennai, India. In addition to his work with Broken Lizard, Chandrasekar directed The Dukes of Hazzard, an action comedy film based on a television series from the 1970s. The film marked the acting debut of pop singer Jessica Simpson. Other of his television credits include episodes of Undeclared, Happy Endings, Chuck, Community, Psych, New Girl, and Arrested Development. Between 2014 and 2016, he directed 16 episodes of The Goldbergs.

Actor Andrew Dismukes, the newest addition to the cadre of state troopers, was born in Houston in 1995, He joined the writing team at Saturday Night Live in 2017 and twice won an Emmy nomination for Outstanding Writing For a Variety Series. Dismukes began performing on the show in 2020, the same year he starred in the comedy film, Call Me Brother.
