Season 6 of Cobra Kai will be debuting on Netflix on July 18, with a trailer set to appear on Monday July 1. According to Netflix, fifteen new episodes will be released in three sections–part one on July 18, part 2 on November 28, and part 3 on a yet-unspecified date in 2025.

Returning as stars in the new season will be Ralph Maccio, playing the role of Daniel LaRusso, and William Zabka, playing Johnny Lawrence. Other cast members include Martin Kove, who will be reprising the role of John Kreese from the film; Thomas Ian Griffith as the villain Terry Silver from The Karate Kid Part III and Yuji Okumoto as Chozen Toguchi from the previous film, Part II.

The series is a direct sequel of the four films in the original The Karate Kid franchise, which were released between 1984 and 1994. Cobra Kai originated on You Tube Red in 2018 and was acquired by Netflix in 2020 after YouTube altered its policies on original programming. The series was created by Josh Heald, Jon Hurwitz, and Hayden Schlossberg,

According to the official synopsis for the upcoming series 6: “Picking up with Cobra Kai eliminated from the Valley, our senseis and students must decide if and how they will compete in the Sekai Taikai — the world championships of karate.”

Series 6 is being heavily promoted via videos on social media, including one in which Ralph Macchio talks about Daniel LaRusso’s arc through the first five installments. In the video, Macchio declares:  “I’m extremely product to be sensei at Miyagi-Do. My journey has been so much more than just fighting. It’s about balance and respect. I’ve taken my sensei, Mr. Miyagi’s teachings to heart, helping others find their path just as I did.”

Other promotional video clips were also released, featuring cast members Jacob Bertrand as Eli “Hawk” Moskowitz, Mary Mouser as Samantha LaRusso, Dallas Dupree Young as Kenny Payne, and Tanner Buchanan as Robby Keene,

The first five seasons of Cobra Kai are also currently streaming on the Netflix platform. And the latest version of The Karate Kid has just wrapped production, marking the 40th anniversary of the original release. It will be distributed by Sony Pictures, with a release date set for May 30, 2025. It is expected to be available on Netflix later that year.
