Ketchup Entertainment is the new owner of Warner Bros. Discovery‘s infamously shelved “Coyote vs. Acme” movie, according to reports.
The announcement comes just under two weeks after it was announced that the vaulted film could be seen on the big screen with Ketchup, the distributor of “Ferrari“, and “The Day the Earth Blew Up: A Looney Tunes Movie” in negotiations at that time.
Ketchup confirmed today in a press release that they have obtained the worldwide rights to the film, which Warners reportedly scrapped back in 2013 for an estimated $35 million tax write-off.
Gareth West, CEO of Ketchup Entertainment, said in a statement: “We’re thrilled to have made a deal with Warner Bros. Pictures to bring this film to audiences worldwide. “Coyote vs. Acme” is a perfect blend of nostalgia and modern storytelling, capturing the essence of the beloved Looney Tunes characters while introducing them to a new generation. We believe it will resonate with both longtime fans and newcomers alike.”
The film is starring Will Forte, John Cena, Lana Condor, and Tone Bell. In the movie, Wile E. Coyote of Looney Tunes is hired by Forte to sue the ACME Corporation for defective product injuries, as many of their products have caused him harm in his pursuit of the Road Runner over the years. Cena is the head of ACME.
It is rumored that the deal is worth around $50 million and the film will be released in theaters in 2026.
