Daniel Kwan and Daniel Scheinert, also known as Daniels, have provided fans with an update on the anticipated follow-up to their 2022 award-winning “Everything Everywhere All at Once“.

Daniel Kwan spoke to Collider during a recent interview about his and his directing partner’s follow-up movie, Thim AI Doc, while promoting his new documentary at SXSW. Kwan expressed optimism, noting that the plan is to film it in the summer and have it released in November 2027 if all things go as planned.

“The only thing you need to know is we are trying to do what we have always done, which is listen very deeply to what is happening in the world and try to internalize that and make something really fun and entertaining that kind of reflects that story back to the world,” said Kwan.

“So, one of the reasons why it’s taking so long is because what we’re feeling and what we’re hearing from the world is very complex and really nuanced, and there’s so much paradox. To kind of reconcile all those things and put them into one movie, it takes time. Some trees grow really quickly within a couple of years, some trees take a very long time, and sometimes the work that we do takes a little bit longer.”

“Again, it’s going to be fun sci-fi, action comedy with a big heart. Very existential. All those things that you would hope that one of our movies would be. But as the world gets more complex, I believe one of my jobs as a storyteller is to meet the world where it’s at,” Kwan said.

A24 Films and the cast of “Everything Everywhere All” at Once enjoyed a great success. The film earned over $140 million at the box office, which is A24’s record high, and won over 260 awards, with many predicting it to be the most-awarded film of all time.

The 95th Academy Awards saw the film win seven of their 11 nominations, with the top three winning Best Picture, Best Director, Best Actress (Yeoh), Best Supporting Actor (Ke Huy Quan), Best Supporting Actress (Jamie Lee Curtis), Best Original Screenplay, and Best Film Editing.
